Anthony anxiously watched Gabriel pull out his phone and swipe away at it. The way the hospital staff had treated the accident was strange enough, but Gabriel was treating it the same way. It made Anthony fear what he was about to see. He didn’t like thinking about the accident at the best of times; thinking about how out of the ordinary it was just made Anthony’s world darker. Coming to terms with the fact that it was his fault would be hard enough. Having to come to terms with the fact that he wouldn’t have been able to stop it would be impossible. “Look,” Gabriel held out his phone for Anthony to take.
Anthony took it and he saw the photo Gabriel meant for him to see, enlarged on his screen. It was clearly a police photograph, but Anthony didn’t bother to ask Gabriel how he’d gotten it
