Chapter 37 The next day dawned clear, one of those rare sunny days in late winter that reminded everyone that spring was actually on the way. The air held a touch of warmth, and even though I’d planned to beg off riding that afternoon, Neeve coaxed me into going out again. “The prince is better behaved when you’re along,” she said. “And it’s a perfect day.” “I’m stiff,” I protested, which was the truth. Happily, I was not as sore and aching as I’d been after an afternoon on Snowbell’s back, and had managed a decent night’s sleep. “Riding today will help,” Neeve said. “You need to stretch out your muscles and become accustomed to Sterling.” I didn’t especially want to make a habit of daily rides—plus, the promise of the hidden bookshelf tugged mightily at me—but in the end I conceded.
