Edric’s notices normally reached the kitchen a day late, after the main corridor and residential wing had already formed opinions. This one had arrived with the rest of the compound, pinned at eye level between the sanitation schedule and the list of rooms reassigned under the southern-border protocol. Someone wanted her to read it before she had time to become anything other than its subject.
