The first few days of the business trip passed smoothly enough. Elowen attended the same meetings and events for her welfare project documentary, but she maintained professional distance and appropriate behavior.
She treated me like a colleague or friendly acquaintance rather than someone she had history with, and I found myself relaxing slightly, thinking perhaps I had been overreacting about her presence.
My video calls with Keira were the highlight of each day. Hearing about her victory at Stormfang Pack and watching her face light up, seeing her confidence grow as she took control of her own power… all of it made the distance between us feel bearable.
