Alden's POV
When my father woke up in the hospital after his collapse, the house got into complete chaos. I had been sitting beside his bed for hours waiting for him to regain consciousness, and the moment he opened his eyes the room filled with family members all talking at once.
Rena had insisted on being there despite my mother's obvious disapproval, and within minutes of my father waking up she and my sister Seraphina were arguing loudly right there in the hospital room.
My father was trying to speak, his voice weak but nobody could hear him over the arguing. I felt fury building in my chest at how little respect either of them was showing for his condition.
"Out," I said, grabbing Rena's arm and pulling her toward the door. "We are discussing this outside."
