Episode 1: The Night Everything Changed

336 Words
Rain fell like broken glass over the city, turning every street into a mirror of blurred lights and hidden shadows. Aarya Sharma should have been home hours ago. But tonight, something pulled her forward — something she couldn’t explain. The abandoned Veroni Building stood at the edge of the road, silent and forgotten by time. People said it was cursed. People said things disappeared inside it. Aarya never believed in rumors. Until she saw the faint light glowing upstairs. Her heart tightened. Still, she stepped inside. The air was heavy with dust and silence. Every step echoed like a warning. Then she heard voices — low, sharp, angry. She followed them carefully… until she saw it. A table. A folder. And a photograph sliding out of it. Aarya froze. She picked it up slowly. The world around her blurred. The photo showed powerful men standing together… and among them was someone she knew too well. Her father. Dead. Five years ago. Or so she had been told. A sound broke the silence behind her. Footsteps. Closer. Faster. Panic hit her chest. She grabbed the photograph and ran without thinking, her breath breaking as she escaped into the storm outside. But the rain didn’t save her. A black car stopped right in front of her. The door opened. A tall figure stepped out. Dark hair. Cold eyes. A presence that made the world feel quieter. His gaze dropped instantly to her shaking hand. To the photograph. “You shouldn’t have taken that,” he said, his voice calm but dangerous. Aarya stepped back, heart racing. “Who are you?” For a moment, he said nothing. The rain poured between them like a wall. Then he answered. “Arjun Verma.” A pause. “And if you want to survive what comes next… you come with me.” Thunder cracked across the sky. Aarya didn’t know it yet — but this was the moment her life stopped being normal. And the moment her heart stepped into danger.
