Late Afternoon“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR mind?” Evelina yelled, and I hushed her. I looked around, but the people sitting at other tables around ours paid us no attention. The music was loud enough to have covered her outburst. “Calm down, he only wants to talk. Explain everything, I guess.” I shrugged and looked out the window, doing my best to avoid her eyes. Evelina squeezed my hand. When I didn’t turn to her, she yanked on it, her long nails digging into my skin. I relented and looked into her searching eyes. “This is Robert we’re talking about.
