CHAPTER SIXI'D NEVER BEEN TO THAT particular coffee shop. It was nice enough, the coffee tasted delicious, but it didn't matter much. It was a place I could sit in, pretending to work on my laptop, and trying to sort my thoughts. There'd been another call that morning and Edi's already sour mood had plummeted. He'd gone in early again, and while he never snapped at me, the distance between us drove me insane. I missed our closeness and I hated this wall of coldness that had replaced it.
I'd left the apartment minutes after Edi had gone to work. I just couldn't bear being there by myself. I'd since drifted between coffee shops and this was the last one before meeting Evi for lunch. She worked in the building across the street and I'd gotten here way too early.
