Leah’s POV:
I was jolted awake by a sharp alarm sound, and the monitor displayed that I had stopped breathing for five seconds.
I couldn’t even imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t started breathing again!
The baby inside seemed to be uncomfortable from the choking earlier, wriggling restlessly.
I propped myself up, slowly leaning against the headboard, and gently stroked my large belly. “Baby, be good! It’s okay, go back to sleep. Keep fighting with Mommy. Soon, you’ll be out here with us! Let’s work hard together, okay?”
I repeated soothing words over and over until the baby finally settled down.
But I felt uneasy and couldn’t bring myself to fall asleep again.
