Chapter 8: Betrayal

Alpha Black waited on Marcus for the account of their hybrid spy among the Lycans. Over the years, spies were trained to live among the Lycans. Many of them were eventually caught, tortured, and killed. Only a few spies ever made it out of the Lycan clan without becoming fugitive targets. Of course, the Red Circle and the Blackblood provided these ex-spies with new identities among their organization. And, this is why they needed the humans. It was humans who self-volunteered to become spies. As a reward for their information and time as spies, they were given immortal life either as vampire or werewolf. It was their choosing.

Estelle is our current human spy. She was assigned to search for my Luna's family.

Kali hoped to hear good news, but the feelignin his gut told him there would be none. He just knew the Lycans would not leave any royal members alive, Alexandra was very lucky she escaped unbitten or killed. It made his blood boil just thinking of a Lycan hurting his mate. He would destroy them at all costs!

Nose flaring, Kali sniffed the air. The spy was close, in the dim light of the bar he knew it would be hard to see her but his sense of smell already knew how to track her. Estelle was just a few feet away from their table in the bar.

"Mr. Black, and Marcus...here's the flashdrive. I put pictures, video footage, and typed my notes. Goodnight to you both." Estelle was not a talker. That human seemed to hate long winded conversations and got to the point. I shrugged. Well, less talk more work. I smiled at Estelle my Goodbye.

"Alpha, place the flash into your tablet in the car. We'll head over to the packhouse, you'll have to destroy the flashdrive before anyone else sees it's contents."

Kali and Marcus waited a few minutes before heading out the bar and into the street. It was pitch dark, fog starting to roll in from the sea...Kali stepped into the waiting car in the back. Marcus took a seat oppposite him, Kali pushed the flashdrive into his tablet. He frowned deeper as he scrolled through the pictures. WHAT THE HELL! 

"My brother is with the Lycans in Alexandra's home territory. WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING WITH OUR ENEMY!!!" I do my best to keep my voice low. The anger is building up inside, making my head feel as if it will explode like a firecracker.

This can not be! Dominik has faught battles against the Lycans, was he captured? Made into a slave? Are they using him against me? Do they know about the triplets!

Kali closed his eyes, the next few pictures show a dead King Alfred his head decapitated and what I presume is Alexie, also dead like his father. The need to shift into wolf form over takes Kali.

"Marcus, to the woods. I must run. I have to break the bad news to our Luna, her family is dead." 

Kali knows it will pain his Luna.  She is so soft hearted, so kind. She has shown how caring she is by accepting the triplets so easily and keeping them around her daily. She has become somewhat of a surrogate mother to them. A few nights ago peeking into the hallway, he saw how Ektor sneaked into Luna's room to rest beside her in the bed. She hugged him to her and they fell asleep together like this. It made Kali think about his own children with Alexandra. 

And it made him extremely jealous of Ektor. He wanted to be the one sleeping beside his Luna, having her body next to his. 

Kali closed his eyes, he could always feel her innocent desire for him. It drove him and his wolf crazy with lust. Their kiss in the hallway sealed the deal for him, he knew she was the one, His Luna. 

He was head over heels for her.

He was on cloud nine when she accepted his marriage proposal. They kept away from two days in preparation for the wedding. Tomorrow is their official council presentation to receive the council blessing for marriage. Then it's followed by the royal wedding, our Luna is a princess after all! 

He shift in his seat just thinking about her walking down the aisle and then making love to her on their wedding night. His face flushed just imagining her naked beneath him, kissing and touching him all over.

"Alpha, we're here. The woods...," Marcus pointed to the woods outside.

I shook my head. "Right."

Kali walked out the car, threw his shirt on a tree limb and focused on shifting into his wolf. He gave the greatest howl up towards to Moon Goddess. Cobalt!

To the lake...eyes blazing like gold flames in the night, Cobalt growled and clawed the ground beneath his paws running towards the lake where we saw our Luna. The lake is said to be mystical in nature, formed by the tears of two lovers who met in secret but could not live together. So they found a witch, who took their tears weaving them together into the lake, and turned the lovers into koi fish. The koi fish in this lake live unharmed and roam freely in the water.  It is a myth that one day the koi fish will return to their human forms and finally live among the land together instead of in the water.

Cobalt sat on the spot he found Alexandra. This spot brought him peace and calmness. He tried to let go of all the anger inside for Dominik. How could he abandon his pups! How can he ally himself to the Lycans! 

The bright Moon Goddess looked to be dancing against the reflection of the water. 

What does this all mean? Why did the Lycans destroy Alexandra's royal pack?

Cobalt let out a sad howl...

Marcus whimpered in the cold air wrapping around him. He knew his Alpha felt betrayal. 

Dominik was his brother, one of his bestfriends, and to ally with the Lycans meant Kali would have to kill him without any mercy.
