Chapter 13: Queen Matelda

1098 Words
I close my eyes reliving that fateful day. My sister Carlotta, young and vivacious lived in the palace with her. Since a youth, she trotted along almost becoming Matelda's shadow. I loved her so much, so much that when she discovered Carlotta's betrayal the only thing Matelda could do was banish her sister to live alone in the Witches Asylum.  Carlotta's reckless behavior strained their relationship. First, it was the innocent human servants she'd kill out of anger or spite. When she first discovered Carlotta had a thirst for killing they had to warn her she would be punished by the council. It curbed this behavior for a few years, but it only drove Carlotta to seek another means to feed her desire for killing. Her sister's imbalance mental state caused tension with her husband, so many times he begged her to seek her sister mental treatment. Matelda refused, it was hard to admit there was anything wrong with her baby sister. Matelda closed her eyes tighter, tears starting to pull. If only she had listened to her husband! Carlotta began hanging around the wrong crowd, dabbing into drugs and witchcraft. She'd visit the palace off and on, each time she her behaviors were more and more erratic. One night, Matelda was awaken by moans and a high pitch laughter inside her husbands chambers. Matelda walked into her husbands bedroom, finding Carlotta naked on top of King Cosmos. They were floating above the bed, he in a trance state. Matelda's response was immediate. She attacked her sister. In mid flight, Carlotta held Matelda in the air. Smiling devilishly while continuing to rotate her hips against the king. Matelda was frozen, unable to move or stop her. Carlotta was using somekind of witchcraft to overpower Matelda and keep her husband in a trance. When she was done, she stepped the bed and walked up to Matelda smiling... "I hate you, I've hated you since the moment you found him and forgot I existed. You flaunt your love in my face sister, bearing him child after child when my womb is barren. Everytime you strutted your big fat belly in my presence I wanted to puke. I hated it, hated you more and more." Carlotta's face contorted.  I couldn't speak...I tried. I tried to tell her how much she meant to me. I didn't know she felt this way but my vocal cords were not moving... "This is sweet revenge, his seed is all I need. I'll bear a child now, and my child will be the end of you and all you love. You won't dare kill me sister, knowing I have his child in my belly." Carlotta crazy laugh followed her out the bedroom. When she was out the palace grounds, Matelda suddenly fell to the ground from her position in the air. Her husband grasped for air, being in a semitransic state but able to hear every word Carlotta said to her. "I will kill her with my bare hands Matelda!!!" roared the King. He quickly tried to move off the bed but he was still weak from being placed under a trance. Pounding his fist against the mattress, I quickly walked and buried my face into his chest trying to calm him.  "You won't kill her. She is carrying your child now. We must save the child." Matelda and her husband spent the next months tracking Carlotta. She knew she was being followed, and didn't care. The dark magic was begining to consume her fully. Towards the last month of her pregnancy, the King's spies managed to kidnap her by using counter magic. The Witches Coven took her prisoner, not just for abusing dark magic in her killings but by trying to grow a cult of her own against their witch laws. The King was able to take the newborn child, Princess Anna. Carlotta has been a prisoner in the Witch Asylum for years.  Matelda took Anna in, caring for her as her own. The witches tried to provide protection over the child's fate, knowing Carlotta had used dark magic to conceive her. Anna's looks were flawless, supremely unique. Raven black hair, silver eyes, and pale skin. She was tall, 6'2' in height towering over most women. She did not inherit her mother's unstable mental state.  Anna was the perfect daughter, so loving and sweet. She fell in love with Alpha Dominic Black.  Matelda sighed. Her Anna died after birthing the triplets. The witches did their best to try combating the curse her sister Carlotta placed upon her own daughter. It was useless. After the third day fighting the dark forces, Anna flat lined. She died. Her body turned to ashes before their very eyes, as if the sun had roasted her body into the oblivion.  Dominic was inconsolable. He barely acknowledge his own children, the witches told him there was nothing they could for Anna. Carlotta had sold her daughter's soul, what we didn't know is when her soul would be taken. Carlotta's hate was so great, she envied her own daughter's happiness. The soul was taken the moment she became a mother. Something Carlotta had struggled to become all those years as a barren vampire... "My Queen, we have arrived." Lieutenant Victtorio announced. Matelda nodded her head.  "Was my family informed of the circumstances of my stay?" Matelda inquired. "Yes, the King himself spoke to your uncles. I will leave immediately once your settled in. Guards will form five rings of security. Your uncles have called for reinforcements. We prepare for any possible attack. Our main focus is against the Lycans, but you know the status of Carlotta's confinement. She grows stronger each day, the triplets have Black and his Luna, I've a meeting with the Witch Coven tonight." Lieutenant Victtorio frowned pensively. Victtorio wondered how the Queen felt about his sister now, all these years everything she had caused so much pain.  Matelda looked up at Victtorio and tried to smile. "I have absolute confidence in your judgement Victtorio. If my sister must be killed this time to protect the triplets, I accept this. I lost my sister years ago, she is a hollow shell of who she used to be a young girl. I can't hold on to old memories any longer." Victtorio shook his head understanding. Carlotta's mental state is severely impaired, coupled with her infusion of dark magic. Whatever she is, she is not human or vampire but seems more demonlike. Vampires could not visit hell or heaven.  Carlotta had indeed gone into hell to bargain for Anna's soul. How did she do it? Not even the witches coven could answer this. No one dared to question the reasoning of the Underworld God, Lucifer himself.
