The next morning, Jake woke up earlier than usual. He glanced over at Sadie, still peacefully asleep, and a rare wave of guilt washed over him. He quietly slipped out of bed and headed to the kitchen. With surprising care, he prepared breakfast—eggs, toast, and a side of fruit. As the aroma filled the room, he gently woke Sadie. "Morning," Jake said softly, holding the tray of food. Sadie blinked groggily, sitting up. "What's this?" she asked, her voice still thick with sleep. "Breakfast," Jake replied with a slight smirk, placing the tray on her lap. "I thought I'd do something different today... and apologize for yesterday." Sadie eyed him, trying to play it cool. "Oh? Apologizing now, are we?" She took a bite of toast, acting unimpressed. But inside, her heart was melting a little.
