Chapter 36: finding comfort
Sadie woke up the next morning feeling unusually warm, as if something heavy was draped over her. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the soft morning light spilling into the room. As she turned over, her heart almost leapt out of her chest—Jake was lying beside her, sprawled out on her bed! "What the hell are you doing?!" Sadie shrieked, quickly sitting up and tugging the blanket toward her chest like a shield. Jake groaned and stretched lazily, rubbing his eyes. "Calm down," he muttered, looking annoyingly relaxed. "you're officially my woman now, remember?" For a moment, Sadie’s brain went blank. Right. They were officially a couple. Still, this was way too much, too soon. "I don't care! Get out of my bed, Jake!" she snapped, pushing his arm away as he tried to pull her back down.
