Chapter 2 Get A Call Girl

1047 Words
The next morning, Erin was cooking bacon in the kitchen when she heard Brett's voice from the door: "Why are you making breakfast? Where are the maids?" Erin turned toward the voice and saw the man in a well-tailored black suit, his short hair neatly combed. He no longer looked as tired as he had the previous night, his expression cold as he gazed at her. Erin shifted her gaze back to the aromatic bacon in the pan, calmly explaining, "You fired all the maids before you went abroad. Remember?" Brett walked over to Erin, glanced at the food in the pan, and frowned slightly. "I don't like cured meat." Erin directly plated the bacon, unfazed, and replied, "If you don't want it, go get something yourself." "Watch your attitude, Erin." Brett grabbed her wrist, forcefully pulling her towards him. Their eyes locked, and their breaths were close. "What's wrong with my attitude?" Erin shot back, not backing down. Brett's face stiffened as he said, "This is my house, woman. As long as you're staying here, you should be grateful. If I hadn't allowed you to stay, you'd have had to drop out of high school and become a call girl to support yourself, wouldn't you?" How dare he say that? Was he really flaunting his so-called kindness to her? Erin smiled bitterly in anger, sarcastically asking, "What, now you regret only using psychological violence on me back in high school, and not kicking me out?" "That's not what I meant." Brett quickly wiped the confusion off his face and coldly explained, "I just want you to remember my eating habits..." Why should she remember them? She was no longer that foolish girl hopelessly in love with him, and she was certainly not his personal cook! Erin, tired of the conversation, grabbed the greasy bacon and slammed it onto Brett's suit. Brett's expression changed. "How dare you..." Erin forcefully yanked her wrist out of his grip, giving him a fake smile. "Oops, sorry, your suit is all dirty." She took a step back, waved her hand dismissively at the livid Brett, and continued, "Too bad. I've got to go. Work awaits. I can't help you. Maybe you could find a call girl to live with you, do your laundry, and cook for you? After all, I'm moving out soon, so this damn house is all yours to live in if you want!" After speaking, Erin strode out of the house, slamming the door behind her. In a good mood, Erin arrived at the hospital and began her shift on the 6th floor in the cardiology department. After a few hours, she went down to the 5th floor to visit someone. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she heard a somewhat familiar female voice: "Dr. Mark, here's my test report. Can you take a look?" Erin recognized the voice immediately—it was the same woman who had cried to Brett yesterday, telling him she didn't want to abort her child. She walked out of the elevator and looked in the direction of the voice. A woman in a tight black camisole dress appeared. She was tall, with slender legs and an elegant figure that turned heads wherever she went, though her heavy makeup made her look a bit tacky. Dr. Mark glanced at the report, then casually said, "Ms. Fox, everything looks normal. Just make sure to keep warm." The woman, named Karen Fox, nodded gratefully, turned to leave, and happened to make eye contact with Erin. Erin didn't want to interact with the woman Brett had brought back, so she kept her eyes straight and walked past her without a glance. But Karen called out to her, "Hey, I think I've seen you before. Aren't you..." "What?" Erin stopped and turned around, waiting for her to finish. Before Karen could speak, Brett's voice suddenly interrupted from behind Erin: "What are you doing here?" "Brett!" At the sight of Brett, Karen immediately forgot her original topic and rushed toward him, exclaiming, "I knew you wouldn't let me come to the hospital alone!" It seemed Brett was very good at appearing whenever a woman needed him—just not when it came to Erin. Erin couldn't help but sneer internally, shooting Brett a glance before walking past him with an expressionless face, quickly leaving the scene. Brett's gaze followed her until she entered an office, then he coldly pushed Karen away from him and said with a chilling tone, "Stay away from me." Karen was puzzled by the sudden change in his demeanor. This man's mood swings were faster than flipping a page in a book. She didn't back down but instead rubbed her ample chest against his arm, "Brett... What's wrong?" Brett adjusted his clothes, not even glancing at Karen, and pressed the elevator button. "I don't sleep with women who've been used by my friends," he said, then entered the elevator and left, leaving Karen standing there, angrily clutching her small purse. She couldn't believe it—given her looks and body, Brett actually didn't care about her! Did this man not have normal desires? The hospital was busy, and Erin soon forgot about the encounter with Brett and Karen. She worked through the entire day and then covered for a colleague's night shift. After handling an emergency surgery in the middle of the night, Erin finally finished around 6 AM, as the sky began to lighten with a faint glow of dawn. Exhausted, Erin stepped out of the operating room and leaned against the wall to rest for a moment, her back sore from the intense hours of work. Her vision was blurry, as though everything was doubled. She changed in her office and, as usual, walked home through the morning mist. She struggled to open the door, her eyes too tired to focus as she fumbled with the key for several moments. Just then, the door opened by itself, and a broad chest appeared in front of her. It was Brett. Erin looked up at him, and perhaps due to her exhaustion, she could swear she saw a flicker of concern in his blue eyes. "Why are you only back now?" Brett looked down at Erin and asked, his face cold.
