Brett froze for a moment, and in that brief pause, Erin slipped through the gap under his arm and bolted.
The next morning, as soon as Erin arrived at the hospital, she got a message from Brett: "Kurt requested a transfer. He asked to be sent as far away as possible. Our overseas office needed someone, so it's arranged. My gut says there's more to his breakup with Lily than he's letting on."
After reading Brett's message, Erin also sensed something wasn't quite right. But with the breakup already final, there didn't seem to be a point in digging further. Whatever the reason, it didn't really matter anymore.
With Lily's heartbreak as an excuse, Erin had a legitimate reason to stay out late, so she started heading straight to Lily's studio after work, avoiding home as much as possible.
