Jimmy's mother sighed. "I'm doing this for your friend's good, Jimmy. I'm afraid he's fallen for her. I wouldn't mind Jimmy marrying an ordinary girl, but his father would never allow it." Erin was bewildered.
She couldn't see any sign of Jimmy liking Lily. It was baffling to her. They had only met a few times, and almost every encounter ended in an argument.
Seeing Erin's silence, Jimmy's mother explained further, her voice laced with grievance. "Erin, don't think badly of me. I'm truly doing this for her own good. In a family like ours, we don't have the final say in our own marriages."
