She didn't get into Joseph's car but went to the garage to get her own.
Brett had given her a car much nicer than Joseph's. She wanted to warn Joseph that she was not someone he could manipulate with money.
Joseph was a little embarrassed. "It's fine if you want to drive your car. It seems Brett treats you well."
Erin didn't say anything but gave him a scornful look and drove off ahead of him.
She chose a nearby upscale restaurant. As soon as they were seated, she ordered the most expensive red wine and dishes.
Taking advantage of the time before the dishes were served, Erin said bluntly, "I don't like to beat around the bush. I know why you're looking for me. So let's cut to the chase—what's your offer?"
