Chapter 16

"No, Ryan, ring the doorbell," I whisper shout, right before Ryan invites himself into Joey's house. "Mia, I have been here so many times. I think I have a pass to just walk in," Ryan says with his hand on the doorknob. "But, me, Ryan. Last time I came here it was a party. Oh wait, that was the only time I came here." "You have me, you're my plus one." "That implies we are a couple. That's gross." "Well, romantic couples are not the only couples. Best friend couples, sibling couples, the list goes on." "Hate to break it to you bud, but that's not really reality. A sibling couple is incest." Ryan gasps as he puts a hand to his chest, "Are you saying that I want to have s*x with you?" "What? Ryan! Not at all, just don't say we are a sibling couple. Ring the doorbell." I say as I roll my eyes. "You've hurt me sis," he says as he rings the doorbell. Footsteps pound to the door, and it opens. It seems like we are the last ones to arrive. "Why hello everyone. The sibling couple has arrived." Ryan says as he walks on in. "You realize you don't have to ring the doorbell," Joey says looking at Ryan. "I know," Ryan smirks at me. "Wait, did you say sibling couple?" Logan asks as he comes by me and slings an arm around my waist. "Hell yeah I did," Ryan shouts. "Mia, are you cheating on me? With your brother?" Logan gasps. "No! Ryan! See what you did?" I ask, my cheeks turning red. "Ryan, don't say you and Mia are 'the sibling couple' again," Alex laughs. "Okay, fine." Ryan says angrily. "Good," I comment. "We are the twins couple," Ryan says confidently as I groan. "Hey, Ryan," Leo comes towards him, "you see, calling yourself and Mia a couple, is saying you two are together romantically." "And siblings who are together romantically," Joey begins. "is incest," Haley finished. "And incest is frowned upon in most societies," Logan adds. "Well, f**k. This is a bit awkward isn't it," Ryan scratches his neck and avoids eye contact. "Anyways, we have pizza in the kitchen," Joey says as the group follows him to the kitchen. Logan and I stay back. "Now that I know you aren't cheating on me," Logan smiles when I squirm about the situation that just occurred, "I can do this." He wraps one arms around my waist and the other behind my head. I wrap my arms around his neck. Logan leans forward for a kiss, causing my eyes to flutter shut. I close the gap between our lips, as sparks begin to shoot through my body. I could never get sick of kissing him. "Oh damn," Alex said from behind us. I pull away fast and whip around to see both Leo and Alex walking out from the kitchen, "Get a room guys!" I look down as my cheeks turn red. Logan was to the right of my laughing his head off. I glance back forward and see Leo looking sad. "Okay, Mia. Let's go get some pizza." He took my hand, and led me to the kitchen. I looked behind me to see Leo standing in the same spot. "Hold on Logan, I'll be right back." I said. "Okay, beautiful." I wandered to where Leo was, "Hey Leo." "Oh, hi, Mia." He said as he turned around. He put a smile on his face, but I could tell it wasn't genuine. "What's wrong? I know you're upset." I said quietly. "Oh, it's stupid." Leo said as he looked down. "Please, even if you were upset because you broke a crayon, I wouldn't call that stupid." "I would," Leo mumbled, making me laugh, getting a smile out of him. "Well, okay. But you gave me a shoulder to cry on, I'll give you mine if you mine if you need it." "Thanks, Mia." "Anytime," I walked back into the kitchen to eat pizza. ~*~*~ "No, please no!" I shout. "Too late!" Haley exclaims as she pops a horror movie into the CD player. "Don't worry Mia. You have me," Logan smiles. "Okay, fine. I'll watch it." I say grumpily as I walk to the couch Logan is on. I'm surprised that all 7 people have seats. Logan, Leo, and I, are on one couch. Haley and Joey took up the love seat. Ryan is on one recliner, and Alex take up the other. The movie started off slow, I didn't think it was bad. Finally, a horror movie I can handle. I jinxed it though. The killer dropped from the ceiling, and he slashed the girl in half. I screamed and dug my head into Logan's side. I look up to see Leo grinning on me. I give him a sheepish smile back as Logan tightens his grip on me. I look back at the TV just in time to see another jump scare. And I, of course, jumped and screamed. Alex paused the movie, as everyone started laughing. This is embarrassing. "You guys finish the movie. I'm gonna go to the kitchen. It's way to scary for me." I say as I get up and walk to the kitchen. "You sure you'll be good alone?" Logan asks grabbing my hand before I leave. "Yeah, I'll come back if I'm not." He nods and I walk into the kitchen. After I sat down on a chair, I regretted my choice. I could hear screams from the TV, and being alone after watching bunch of innocent people killed did not feel great. I start to get up to go back to the TV room, but I smash into someone. Just before I'm about to scream, a hand covers my mouth. "Mia, it's me, Leo," I let out a breath of relief. "Oh, sorry. I thought you were a killer," I say honestly. "I figured." "So, what brings you to the kitchen?" "Uhm, to have a shoulder to cry on," he mumbles but I still heard him. "Oh, okay," I say as we sit on the floor. "No, it's not. Don't be sorry for having feeling, Leo." I whisper. He looks up at me, and I give him a small smile. "Last night, I was playing fetch with my dog. I noticed he wasn't really giving it his all. He just looked so tired. I stopped playing and let him go rest. This morning, when I woke up, he didn't greet me when I went down stairs," I saw his eyes get watery, I go over and hug him. "I turned the corner, to go see if he was in bed," Leo started to get choked up on his tears. "Aw, Leo," I say as I was getting teary as well. "He was in bed. He was not breathing. Mia, my dog died this morning. I loved him so much. I've had him since he was a puppy 10 years ago." He whispered as tears rolled down his cheeks. "Leo, he was sick. He was in pain. Now, he is free of pain. He is chasing all the bunnies his heart desires. He loves you too, Leo." I say quietly. I put my arms around him, as he silently cries into my arm. I remember our dog died a few years ago. I was absolutely heartbroken. We stayed like that for about 5 minutes. "Thanks Mia. It feels good to let it out." Leo says as he gives me a small smile. "But please don't tell the boys. They know he died, but if they found out how much it affected me, I'd seem weak." "Okay, Leo. But you can't help feeling this way. It's you, and people have to understand that," I say. "I guess. Thanks again, Mia." "No problem, Leo."
