CLARA'S POV
Cold shivers ran down my spine and tears gradually dropped from my eyes.
He continued to draw closer to me and I had to think twice.
He pulled out his belt from his underwear. Indeed, this man was a lunatic.
"What do I do now? What do I do?” I kept screaming in my head with cold shivers running down my spine.
Seeing that he was way close to me, I kicked him hard at his ball region, making him fall, rolling on the dust.
"You fool," he growled at me in pain, but I wasn't even listening to him.
I ran out of the place as fast as I could. "Bum, bum, bum," I could feel my heart beating hard against my chest as though it was going to burst through, and cold shivers were already running steeply down my spine.
I got to the forest and rested on a tree truck panting hard for breath. But before I could rest for a while, I heard a strange sound in the forest, making me alert once again.
"Who could that be?" I thought in my head. "Werewolf hunters?" I thought again, because they had been the romance of Werewolf hunters in the area.
I turned around to run to an elderly voice that stopped me, making me stop in my tracks.
"Stop daughter," she said to me, and I stopped around immediately to see who it was. It was an elderly lady, so old that all the hairs on her head had become gray.
"What are you doing in this dangerous forest alone and by this time of the night, child?" She inquired, but before I could open my mouth to say a word, tears burst out from my eyes as I remembered what that cruel man of a stet father almost did to me.
"What's wrong? You can talk to me," she said with so much loving care in her voice.
"He tried to harm me, my stepfather," I explained to her as my eyes began to tear up.
"I'm sorry dear. Why don’t you come and stay with me for some time till your mom is back?" she offered and my eyes brightened with so much gratitude. I could not appreciate her enough for what she had already done for me.
I went to her house and the old lady took care of me with warm love and affection. For the first time, I was happy that I was free from those deadly glares of my stepfather.
But soon, the images of my mother began to flash in my eyes. She was going to get worried and I felt that it was time to leave.
"I will have to leave," I informed the old lady.
"Okay dear, I am going to miss your company," she returned. I could feel my heart tearing apart that I was going to leave her only in this wood, but I just had to leave and return to my mother or she was going to have a heart attack worrying about me.
"Remember, child, you will have heirs to the pack kingdom," she said to me, but I was confused by the parables that she was saying.
"I know you will not understand until these events start happening but you will have to remember all I’m saying to you. You will have to protect your children and make sure they never return to their father or it is going to cause doom and destruction to his pack," she informed.
I still didn't understand. I don't even have a mate yet. I began to walk away from her and I heard a cry from behind me. "A dark news awaits you, be strong child," she encouraged, and I nodded my head and walked away from her.
When I went home that day, something strange happened. The atmosphere was weird and sober.
A lot of people that I had never seen before were gathered in the front yard of my house, yelling and sobbing at the top of their voices, leaving me confused.
"What's the heck is happening here?" I couldn't help but inquire, but none of the Werewolves would say a word to me, they just pulled away from me like some weird disease.
Finally, I saw my stepfather advancing toward me and I ran quickly to him to inquire what was happening.
But immediately his eyes landed on me, his face twisted with hate and anger and he shot a deadly sneer at me, making me fall backwards with a racing heart.
"So you are finally back after everything that you have done right? Demon?" He growled at me but I was still confused about what he was saying. "What the heck have I done again?" I screamed in my head.
"You caused her death. When she heard that you had gone missing, she started running back to find you and now she is dead, she died on her way here, monster," he shot a deadly glare at me.
Immediately he said this, I began to comprehend what was happening with tears already forming in my eyes. It was my mom that they were all talking about.
"Where is mom?" I inquired sniffing, trying not to believe the thoughts that I had already formulated in my head.
"Over there," he said, pointing to a newly dug grave at the side of the house, and I fell down to the ground in tears.
"No, she can't be dead, she can't," I cried out so badly that I could barely see beyond my nose.
"Yes, she is dead and it is all your fault," he spat on the ground and left the place.
I sobbed hard trying to process the thought that I had been left alone in the world with absolutely nothing to call my own.
And to worsen it all, I WAS STUCK FOREVER WITH THE BEAST. I sneaked out of the house and went to the mini-club brothel to lighten up my mood.
The place was flooded with light and the music sank into my ears. I got myself drunk, then sat down on the chair lamenting over my mom’s death.
Suddenly, someone came to me with the stench of alcohol. "Care for a one-night stand," he spat out.
