Lycan’s POV
I paced up and down the palace with a thick frown hanging on my face and a deep heart.
"How can this be possible, that I will never be able to be free from this curse that is gradually killing me? That I will never have an heir?" I thought angrily, pacing with so much force as my feet formed a pattern with my heart.
With every single click of the clock, as the day went by, I was dying.
At least, I needed a male child to carry on with my alphaShip when I am eventually taken by this strange curse, but none of my mates have been able to grant me this simple request.
"What the heck do I need this bunch of idiots for? I need a male child to take over from me when I am gone," I screamed angrily to myself.
Then, I heard a slight tap on the door and my face twisted with so much hate and disgust.
"Who is at the door?" I thundered angrily. "I had already demanded to be left alone," I fired angrily.
"It's the diviner, he wants to see you again," a quivering voice came from the other end of the door.
"Let him in," I spat out the word angrily with so much hate in my voice.
"What did he want to say this time? That I will be cursed forever, tell me that this curse was going to soak the life out of me, gradually and painfully? Or even tell me that my pack will be handed over to someone else?" I thought in my head.
The diviner walked into the place again with her waking staff right before her to support her aging body.
"So what brings you to my pack again?" I inquired, shooting a deadly glare at him, one that could send cold shivers down the spine of anyone.
"To share some good news with you," he explained, but that wasn't enough to restore the joy that he had already stolen.
"You can be free from this curse, and you can have an heir," he finally announced. My face brightened but I was confused, wasn't he the one that announced a few days ago that I could never have a mate?" I thought, confused about what was going on.
"Or was he playing games with me? If he is, I would not hesitate to behead him before everyone in the pack," he announced.
"How will I be from this curse? spill it out already," I voiced, looking intently at him with my heart pounding hard against my chest as though it was going to burst through.
"Find your mate and make her fall in love with you. She is the only one that can free you from this curse and give you an heir," he announced.
Immediately he said this, my heart sank. And moments later, my fave twisted with so much hate and disgust.
He knew that no one could ever love him. My reputation for being cruel had been spread all over the back of my heart. Even my wives didn't love me, they were only afraid of me.
But I was going to give it a try at least, anything to be free from this first and have an heir. Besides, it doesn't mean that I have to fall in love. She was the only one that had to. But first, I will have to inquire who this my mate was.
"Who is she? Just give out her name and I will have her tonight and do the needful," I exclaimed excitedly, but a sigh escaped from the diviner's face, making me get worried a little.
"That you will have to find out for yourself," he returned, shaking his head. My heart sank again. "How am I going to find her?" I thought in my head as cold shivers ran down my spine.
I had searched for my fated mate for years but I could not find her. I got frustrated with searching and got married to my first wife. This was an impossible task for me. He could have just informed me that I could be in my house and that death was knocking on my door.
"Please.." I tried to call out to the diviner but he was already gone, just as he had walked into the hall.
"What should I do now?" I thought in my head. But I could not come up with any idea of what to do or even where to start from.
"Bing," I felt a loud bang on my head making me fall to the ground and I yelled out in pain, jerking on the floor.
A few hours later. I was better. But I could not continue this way. I got up quickly and got dressed in sad clothes to hide my identity. I was leaving the pack to cool off the tense air.
I got to a mini club brothel, just at the boundary of the pack, a settlement for rejected and banished wolves. I drew down my disguise and walked in. I intended to drink away my sorrows.
The place was booming with life and music as the loud sound flooded the hall. I went over to one of the chairs and a waiter came to attend to me.
"What can I get you to say?" He inquired with a broad smile hanging on his face.
"Get me as much alcoholic drink as you have," I returned, like someone stripped of life.
A few minutes later, my order came and I drank until I could no longer feel my body and I kept ranting out in frustration.
Then, I saw a beautiful half-naked lady at the other end of the chair. She was so beautiful and I wanted a taste of her to calm myself down.
"Care for a one-night stand? A good pay would come afterwards," I dragged quickly with my drunk voice.
I stared at her, still staggering, she was also drunk and there were tears in her eyes. She nodded her head without saying a single word to me and she stood up.
We staggered into one of the few rooms and I tore off her clothes, eating her up with my d**k. After that, I slept off on the spot, weak, tired, and frustrated.
While I slept, I began to perceive a strange scent of mixed ginger and common, so sweet that I kept sniffing the heir. Then, something really pleasant happened. "Mate! Mate!" My wolf screamed inside of me.
I could feel my heart already beating hard against my chest as though it was going to burst through...
I opened my eyes quickly to see the one-night-stand girl who turned out to be my mate, but my heart sank when I noticed that she was gone.
"No!!" I yelled. "Where did she go to?"
I looked around but she was nowhere to be found.
To make things worse for me, I tried to remember her face, but I could not. I was way too drunk to even take note of that.
"No, I can't miss her, I have to find her," I yelled in my head. I returned to the pack House and summoned the pack soldiers. We made inquiries but no one seemed to have any information about her.
"No! I missed the potential cure to this curse," I sobbed in my head as I walked into the packed house frustrated.
"There is still one way to find her," my chief servant noted, and I turned towards him with so much hate and anger.
"And it?" I thundered at him, thinking that he was trying to make fun of me.
"We should plan a get-together party at the settlement, then sum up all the females. That way you will search for your mate amongst them," he suggested.
It was a good idea and my hope was restored once again. "That's a perfect idea," I nodded with a smile hanging on my face.
