The sudden silence was painful. I vaguely became aware of more things around me. Of the clouds covering us with another layer of snow, of Edric holding me back from leaping forward to where my home once was. Of the empty field in front of me, with no grass, no people, no farm.  “Marigold, you-” Edric started, but he was cut off by a scream.
