The tea room had not changed one bit. The walls were still painted light blue, though I expect that over the years this had been reapplied to keep its fresh color, and even the paintings still looked the exact same. There were several sofas and chairs in here, each fitting into the decor and having been collected across the many generations that had lived here. The butler closed the door behind him and went to wake my cousin or nephew up. He had only referred to him as ‘his lordship’, so I had no idea if Lucas had lived through the wars or not. My sister could have had more kids after him, or maybe it was even one of Claire’s children who now ran the house. Though even after all these years, I still couldn’t admit to being excited at the prospect of Claire’s children running the estate.
