No one felt the need to sleep that night. We instead spend it digging a large hole to fit all the bodies into. I don’t know why, but we dug the hole further away from the house. It required more energy to haul the bodies back and forth, but it felt like the right thing to do. Someone suggested going back to get the teenagers too, but something the commander said stuck with me. We were lucky to have run into them, not anyone else. It was a smarter move to stay put, only scouting out the lands directly next to the house. When the sun was just peeking over the horizon, we found ourselves sitting in the living room of the house.
