In love?

The party continued for quite a long time. Music still echoed through the air while some warriors danced and others drank around the enormous bonfires. Amaris was calmly talking with Velkan and some of the women from the pack when one of the servants quickly approached Kael. The man bowed slightly and whispered something in his ear. Kael’s expression changed instantly. He set his glass down on the table and looked at Amaris. “I’ll be back shortly.” She raised an eyebrow, immediately growing worried, thinking it could be something dangerous. “Where are you going?” Kael let out an annoyed sigh. “It really irritates me when you ask too many questions.” Amaris crossed her arms immediately, equally irritated by his attitude. “And you love being bitter. You’re going to die alone because of it.” Kael said absolutely nothing. He simply turned around and started walking toward the mansion. Amaris watched him walk away while Velkan let out an amused chuckle. “The two of you are definitely interesting.” Meanwhile, Kael crossed the mansion hallways until he reached Gretel’s room. He opened the door without knocking. Gretel was lying on the bed crying. When she saw him enter, she quickly lifted her face. “What’s wrong?” Kael asked calmly. Gretel slowly sat up on the bed. “Amaris humiliated me in front of the entire pack.” Kael remained serious. Those tears did not move him much. “You also spend your time provoking her. Even I can see that.” Gretel lowered her gaze for a few seconds before responding. “I do it because I know she isn’t genuine.” “You’re wrong,” he replied defensively. “She’s more genuine than you think.” Gretel stared at him for a few seconds. But suddenly, she got off the bed and quickly approached him. Before Kael could react, Gretel kissed him and pushed him onto the bed. Kael fell into a seated position while she climbed onto his lap. “Make love to me,” she said desperately. Kael immediately grabbed her arms. “Enough.” Gretel looked at him in confusion. No one had ever been able to resist her beauty. “Why?” Kael tried to push her away, but through her tears and determination, she tried to keep him pinned down. “I’m not going to betray my wife.” “You don’t love Amaris. You only married her out of spite or for some other ridiculous reason.” Kael stared at her coldly before replying harshly, “Whatever the reason is… I’m not going to betray her.” Gretel felt rage spread through her entire body. “Did you fall in love with her?” Kael remained silent for a few seconds, and when he finally spoke, his voice sounded more sincere than usual. “More than you can imagine.” But at that exact moment, a voice spoke from the doorway. “Sorry for interrupting.” Kael immediately lifted his gaze. Amaris was standing there watching them. The moment he heard her voice, Kael quickly pushed Gretel away and stood up. But Gretel forced a victorious smile onto her face. “You interrupted us right when we were about to make love.” Amaris let out a mocking laugh as she walked closer to her. “You’re truly pathetic.” Then she stopped in front of Kael. “They’re looking for you at the party.” Kael quickly adjusted his clothes and said nothing about what had happened. “I need to go.” He left the room without noticing the storm of emotions left behind between the two women. Amaris turned her gaze back to Gretel, her eyes gleaming sharply. “Stop humiliating yourself in front of Kael already. He doesn’t love you… he doesn’t even desire you.” Gretel’s face filled with rage immediately. She tried to slap her, but Amaris caught her wrist before she could touch her. “Don’t you dare hit me.” Gretel breathed heavily, and there was something almost insane in her eyes. “You’re going to pay dearly for what you’re doing to me. I swear I’ll get my revenge on you, and I’ll take Kael away from you.” Amaris looked her up and down. Gretel had absolutely nothing to avenge herself for. “Keep dreaming.” Then she released her hand and walked out of the room. A few minutes later, she returned to the party, and as soon as she arrived, she heard Kael’s voice addressing the entire pack. “Thank you for always answering the call of Crimson Moon.” The warriors immediately raised their glasses. “Long live our Alpha King!” Amaris smiled as she watched him among the crowd, and now that she had heard the truth… her heart seemed to beat harder than ever. When Kael finished speaking and stepped down from the platform, Amaris walked straight toward him. Without caring about the stares around them, she took his face in her hands and kissed him. Kael looked surprised because he had not expected such an action from his wife. When she pulled away, he looked at her in confusion. “And what was that for?” he asked. Amaris smiled with so much happiness that it felt as though her heart would burst out of her chest. “Because you don’t have to keep hiding that you’re in love with me anymore.” Kael rubbed his temple, trying to deny it. “You heard wrong.” She immediately shook her head with an amused smile. “I heard perfectly.” Kael tried to maintain his usual cold expression. “You keep imagining things.” Amaris took his hand without stopping her smile. “Come with me to a place very few people know about.” Kael watched her for a few seconds before following her. The two of them walked toward one of the mansion’s vehicles. Amaris opened the driver’s door, and Kael raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You’re driving?” She smiled playfully. “Does that surprise you?” “Wolf women almost never do things like this.” Amaris started the vehicle before replying, “My parents taught me almost everything.” Kael watched her silently before getting into the car. A few minutes later, they left the mansion. The road was dark and silent. About twenty minutes later, Amaris stopped the vehicle in a completely secluded area. Kael stepped out of the car, looking around in confusion. But when they walked a few steps through the trees… a beautiful crystal-clear spring appeared before them. The moonlight reflected off the water, making it look like liquid silver. Kael looked at the place with obvious surprise. “I’ve never been here before, and it’s surprisingly close to the mansion.” Amaris smiled while gazing at the water. “It’s a secret place. I always came here whenever I wanted to be alone.” Kael looked at her with admiration, but deep inside he struggled with the promise he had made to himself: never to get involved in love again.
