Amaris watched Kael from one of the windows and saw the car finally disappear down the territory roads.
Only then did she let out a small sigh.
Velkan, who was leaning against one of the dining room columns, smiled in amusement as he watched her.
“Looks like the Alpha finally gave us permission to exist in peace.”
Amaris couldn’t help letting out a small laugh.
“Don’t exaggerate.”
Velkan walked toward her slowly.
“So… are you really going to show me the mansion?”
Amaris smiled calmly.
“Of course. Although honestly, I think you’ll end up knowing some places better than I do.”
Velkan raised an amused eyebrow.
“You know this place that little?”
The two of them started walking through one of the mansion’s enormous hallways.
“Surprisingly, yes,” Amaris admitted as she looked around. “My arrival here has been so complicated that I’ve barely had time to get to know any corners of this place.”
Velkan glanced at her as they walked.
“That explains a lot.”
Amaris looked at him, confused.
“Like what?”
Velkan looked directly at her for a few seconds.
“Like that emotionally exhausted look you’ve had ever since I met you last night.”
Amaris shook her head with amusement.
“Are you always this observant?”
“Always.”
They continued walking through the enormous mansion.
Velkan observed every detail of the place while Amaris showed him different halls, balconies, and corridors.
“Although I have to admit something,” he commented after a few seconds. “Here in Crimson Moon, everything feels like an endless drama.”
Amaris looked at him with both surprise and confusion.
“What do you mean?”
Velkan made an exaggerated gesture with his hand.
“Worried warriors, nervous servants, Gretel looking like she wants to rip someone’s head off, and on top of that, Kael walking around everywhere with that permanent bad mood on his face.”
This time Amaris laughed a little more.
“Yes… Kael can be complicated.”
Velkan looked directly into her eyes once again.
“Complicated? No, he’s a grumpy wolf.”
“You shouldn’t talk about your brother like that,” she said, caught somewhere between seriousness and teasing.
“But it’s true. He’s been like that since he was little. Always serious, always carrying the world’s problems and solutions on his shoulders.”
Amaris lowered her gaze slightly as they kept walking.
“Even so… I think deep down, he’s different.”
Velkan watched her carefully.
“Different how?”
“I know that deep inside Kael’s heart, there’s a kind and sweet man. Even if it’s buried deep down.”
Velkan’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.
“Wow… I think you’re the first person who’s ever described my brother that way.”
Amaris smiled. She was completely certain about every word she had spoken.
“Then maybe I’m the only one who can see it.”
Velkan kept watching her for a few more seconds before smiling with charming mischief.
“Maybe Kael got luckier than he realizes when he married you,” he replied, this time in a serious tone.
After walking through a large part of the mansion, Amaris started to feel a little tired.
The wound on her leg still bothered her more than she wanted to admit.
She stopped near one of the enormous windows and let out a small sigh.
“I think I’m going to rest for a while.”
Velkan looked at her immediately.
“Are you feeling unwell?”
“I’m just a little exhausted. I’m still recovering.”
Velkan smiled understandingly.
“Then get some rest. I’ll see you at dinner.”
Amaris smiled kindly.
“Alright.”
Then she started walking toward the second floor while Velkan remained watching her walk away.
But just as she turned down one of the long hallways, she ran into Gretel.
Amaris looked her up and down with obvious disdain.
“Don’t tell me you’re planning to drag Kael’s brother into your bed too.”
Amaris frowned at how disgusting that sounded.
Gretel smiled maliciously.
“You’re quite the little actress. You have the face of an angel, but inside, you’re anything but that.”
Amaris’s expression changed completely.
Without saying a single word, she walked straight toward Gretel.
And the next second, the slap echoed through the entire hallway.
Gretel’s eyes widened in shock as she brought a hand to her cheek.
Amaris stared at her coldly with contempt.
“That was for disrespecting me.”
The anger was obvious on Gretel’s face.
“You little—!”
She tried to slap her back, but Amaris caught her wrist before she could touch her.
“I am a one-man woman,” Amaris said with certainty.
Gretel let out a small laugh filled with hatred.
“You’re a fool with delusions of grandeur just because you’re Kael’s wife.”
Amaris tightened her grip on her wrist.
“And that is exactly the position I hold.”
Gretel’s eyes burned with fury. She was angrier than ever.
“That powerful Alpha is going to end up hating you so much… he’ll want to kill you.”
But to Gretel’s surprise, Amaris smiled faintly.
“I don’t think so.”
Then she released her hand dismissively.
And without waiting for another response, she continued walking toward her room, leaving Gretel completely furious behind her.
Amaris finally entered the bedroom and closed the door behind her with more force than necessary.
“I can’t stand Gretel…” she muttered to herself as she closed her eyes for a few seconds.
That woman’s mere presence was enough to completely unsettle her.
And the worst part was that Gretel seemed to enjoy provoking her.
Hours later, night finally settled over Crimson Moon faster than usual.
Amaris woke up feeling a bit more rested and left the room to head to the dining room.
But as soon as she entered, she immediately noticed there was no one there.
At that moment, one of the maids approached her quickly.
“Luna Amaris, tonight’s dinner will be served in the garden.”
“Thank you.”
She left again and walked toward the enormous garden illuminated by torches and warm lights.
From afar, she could hear laughter.
When she arrived, she found Kael, Velkan, Aldo, and Gretel sitting around the table while several servants finished serving the food.
Velkan was the one laughing the most.
Amaris approached calmly.
“Good evening.”
“Good evening,” Aldo and Velkan replied almost at the same time.
“Good evening,” Kael said almost through gritted teeth.
The only one who didn’t respond was Gretel.
Amaris pretended not to notice and took a seat.
Velkan looked at her immediately.
“Were you able to rest this afternoon?”
Amaris smiled before answering.
“Yes. Thank you for asking.”
Velkan smiled relaxedly.
“I’m glad to hear that.”
Kael watched the brief conversation in silence.
He tried to maintain an indifferent expression, but it was impossible to completely hide the slight change on his face.
