Amaris felt the weight of everyone’s eyes on her.
Tears continued to stream down her cheeks as she looked Kael straight in the eyes.
“Kael… I knew nothing about that baby.”
He said nothing. He simply looked at her with disappointment in his eyes.
“I swear on my life, I would never have hidden something like that from you. I would never keep a pup away from his father. I could never do something so cruel.”
Kael remained motionless. Amaris took a small step toward him.
“I may have made mistakes, but I would never hurt an innocent child.”
Suddenly, the sound of clapping shattered the silence.
Everyone turned their heads.
Gretel was slowly applauding.
“Bravo.”
