My Nude For The Presentation: 8

Boris walked in carrying a paper bag filled with fried chicken, chips, and a couple of bottled drinks. I blinked, still tense from earlier. “Relax,” he said with a short laugh, noticing my pale face. “It’s just the delivery guy.” I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. “Come on,” he added, softer now. “You need to eat, then get some rest.” I studied him carefully. “Why are you being so nice to me?” I asked, suspicion creeping into my voice because that was how Justin crept into my life with just a little act of kindness. “What do you want?” “Nothing,” he replied simply. “Let’s just say… I’m choosing to be human today.” Before I could respond, he headed into the kitchen. Moments later, he returned with a tray, cutlery, and glasses arranged neatly. He poured juice into a cup and placed the tray in front of me. “Eat.” I didn’t need to be told twice. The hunger hit me all at once, sharp and demanding. I reached for the food and began eating quickly, almost desperately. “Easy,” he said with a faint chuckle. “No one’s taking it from you, lioness.” I slowed down slightly, though not by much. Within minutes, the food was gone. I finished the juice in one long gulp and leaned back, exhausted. “I’m tired…” I murmured, my voice fading as sleep pulled at me. The last thing I remembered was the warmth of his arm around me. I didn’t know how long I slept. But when I woke up, everything felt quieter and softer. I blinked slowly, adjusting to the dim light. I noticed I was no longer in the living room but in my bedroom. And Boris was sitting at the edge of the bed. Flipping some papers. “You’re still here?” I asked, my voice rough with sleep. He looked up and smiled faintly. “Yes,” he said. “And I don’t plan on disappearing anytime soon.” I frowned slightly. “What does that mean?” I asked, pushing myself up. “Are you planning to move in or something?” He smirked. “I could,” he said casually. “Or you could come stay with me. You’d like it there.” I rolled my eyes, but before I could respond, I noticed the papers in his hand again. My stomach tightened. The file. My brother’s case. “Why are you still going through my things?” I snapped. “I told you to stop.” He closed the file slowly. “Calm down, Val,” he said. “You should be thanking me.” “For what exactly?” “For caring enough to look.” I shook my head. “No. I think it’s time for you to leave,” I said firmly. “I need to get ready for work tomorrow.” “What work?” he asked, tilting his head slightly. “I already told you not to worry about that.” “Dont tell me you're still bent on relieving me.. What did I do wrong?” I shot back. He leaned back slightly, studying me. “What did you do wrong?” he repeated. “Alright, let’s see…” He raised a finger. “First, you’re a thief.” My eyes widened. “What?!” I screamed “You stole my attention, my innocent heart,” he said calmly. I stared at him, unsure whether to be annoyed or relieved. “And second,” he continued, “you’re stubborn. You refuse to tell me who hurt you.” “That’s because it’s none of your business,” I said firmly. He shook his head. “No, Val. It became my business the moment we crossed that line. Whether you like it or not, you’re not dealing with this alone.” He paused then added. “So quick get dressed, let's go, we have some unfinished business.” I crossed my arms. “I’m not going anywhere with you,” I said tiredly. “I’m too exhausted for whatever this is.” A small smile played on his lips. “Oh, you’re coming,” he said. “Because you’re going to like what I have planned.” Before I could protest, he stood and reached a long robe and draped it on my shoulder and held my hand. “Boris—” “Trust me.” Something in his tone made me pause. Reluctantly, I slipped my hands into the robe and buttoned it… then I let him pull me out of bed. We walked slowly toward the living room. And the moment I stepped in, I froze. My breath caught in my throat. Justin was sitting on the floor. Bound hand and foot. His mouth taped, with bruises on his face and his clothes stained with blood. “What… what did you do?” I whispered, my voice barely audible. Boris didn’t even flinch. “You should learn something, Val,” he said calmly. “When I want answers, I get them.” “This isn’t right…” I muttered, shaken. He turned to look at me. “Did you just say, It isn't right?” he asked quietly. “After what he did to you?” I couldn’t answer. The room fell into a heavy silence. Then Boris spoke again. “Come. Sit,” he said. “There’s something else. Another suprise” My heart sank. Something else? He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “Where are you?” he asked. “Good. Hurry up.” I frowned. “What are you doing?” He didn’t answer. Minutes passed. Then a knock and my chest tightened. Boris walked to the door and opened it. And the moment I saw who stepped inside.. my breath completely left me. “Vince…?” My brother was standing there. Looking so real. “How—?” I rushed forward and threw my arms around him, tears spilling freely. He held me tightly, but his body was tense. Then I felt it his body trembling in fear. I pulled back slightly and followed his gaze. First to Justin, then to Boris. “Good evening, sir,” Vince said quickly, his voice trembling. “Please… don’t hurt my sister. I promise I’ll pay back everything. I swear. Justin—please, help me beg him, you know I didn't eat the money.” “Wait,” I cut in, my head spinning. “What are you talking about?” My eyes moved between them. Confusion written all over me. “Do you know him?” I asked slowly. And the way Vince hesitated, Justin shook in fear and Boris’s expression darkened just slightly. It told me something I wasn’t ready to hear. Because whatever connected these three men was far bigger than I had imagined. And I had just been dragged right into the middle of it.
