Before I could even process the shitstorm Jason dumped in my lap, there was a knock on the door. Three sharp taps. Jason froze. His head snapped toward the sound, jaw clenched, every part of him stiff like he was expecting his psychotic dad reincarnated into the walls. Then the door creaked open, and Reed strolled in.
“There you are,” Reed said, voice annoyingly chipper. “Took your sweet-ass time crawling back.”
Jason sighed and sat up straighter, the movement making him wince. Reed dropped onto a chair.
“You found him,” Reed grinned at me, then nudged Jason’s shoulder. “This i***t got himself smashed up. Told security to keep it low so you wouldn’t freak, but surprise, she beat us to it.”
