LORI The music had changed to something slower, something thick with synth and bass that vibrated in my chest. I pressed my back to the wall near the drinks table, trying not to look like I was loitering, while also totally loitering, eyes scanning for him like I was on some desperate manhunt. My stomach kept churning, and not from nerves...something felt off. The lights spun too fast. The room felt warmer than it should. But then the doors opened, and everything else faded.
