Chapter 6 A week is All I Need

1805 Words
Stela Walker POV " F*****g b***h! " I snarled at Florence. I grabbed her by her neck and choked Florence. I pinned her against the wall while I glared at her. It was you! It was you all along, you vicious and heartless b**ch! My father died because of you! Hayden parted up with me because of you! My son has septicaemia because of you! HOW DARE YOU, you f*****g piece of s**t! Shock rammed Florence, her face went pale like she had not expected that I would choke her. I had lost all my common sense as rage ate me alive. Unable to move, she snapped, "What the f***, how dare you throw your hands at me? You'll piss off Hayden even more, do you get that!?" I sneered. "I don’t give a damn if he gets pissed off because I’m dying anyway. Why not just take you down with me as well?" "What the f***! Are you gone mad? Get your hands off me! " Florence White shrieked in horror. That's right. This was the exact reaction I wanted from her. She deserved death for what she had done. "I have nothing to lose, Florence White! Even if I smother you to death by cutting out your wind supply, I'll be merely sentenced to the death penalty. It's just another way of dying, but it’s less painful. And I have offered myself the opportunity to kill you!" Panic appeared in Florence's eyes as she struggled hard. "What about your son? If you hurt me, your son will definitely die!" " Is that so? If that’s the case then you’ll definitely go down with him, you wench!" "Stela Walker, what are you doing?" A sudden voice boomed and my hands were pulled away from Florence's neck. The next second, I was thrown heavily onto the cold concrete ground. Ouch! It was Hayden. He came along. He pulled Florence into his arms gently, feeling extremely vulnerable as if he would die if she was harmed. But when he looked at me, his eyes were filled with malice. "Are you looking forward to death?" Looking forward to death? I don't think that I ever need to look forward to death, as death would come to me anytime soon. I staggered to my feet and the mud dripped down from my fingers. My arm was bruised and crimson blood dripped down from my fingers. "How blind you are, Hayden!" I cried. How could you fall for a vicious woman like Florence White? Hayden carried Florence in his arms and glared at me. "You're right. I was so blind that I once fell in love with you and ended up losing both my parents. And just now, I nearly lost Florence because of you!" " Hayden! Would you believe that I didn't kill your parents!? It wasn't me but Florence and her mother who did it! They did everything to kill your parents and my father! " " Stela! Mind your tongue otherwise I'll rip it off your mouth! How dare you accuse my Florence! You disgusting wench! If it wasn't enough to strangle Florence you even dare to fabricate the truth!" Hayden sneered in venomous hatred. At the same time, Florence leaned softly against his chest and made a “V for Victory” towards me. Clearly, it was a conspiracy again. How come I did not realize the trap laid by Florence? She had made a shrewd calculation to make sure that Hayden would arrive just in time to see how hysterical I could be when provoked. I was disheartened. All my hope had vanished. So at the end Hayden would never believe me now matter how much I implored him. In his eyes I would be forever a culprit. Hayden said, "Stela, get a divorce with me right now ’cause I don't wanna stall on it anymore." "No way," I refused resolutely, "I won’t divorce you until a week goes by." "What the hell is wrong with you?" Hayden yelled at me. So he wants to refuse to believe me? Then so be it. He asked for it. "You're right, there's indeed something wrong with me. I'm insane, I'm psychotic as you claim me to be. I told you about that, but you didn't believe me." I took a deep breath, and my eyes gradually filled with icy contempt. "Hayden, I order you to watch the sunset with me at night in the following seven days, or else I will hurt your precious Florence!" Hayden shook his head. "What if I say no?" "Then I will do anything to take your beloved woman down and give her a dog's death. And can you protect her forever? I had managed to plot your parents' death five years ago, do you think Florence White is any safer from me? I will tear her apart." "Stela!" "It's only for a week, Hayden. I guess your wedding will be held in week too, isn't it Hayden? In a week, I'll divorce you and will never be in your sight for good." Hayden frowned and stared at me.  With a sneer, I continued, "Don't worry. I won't force you to sleep with me. All you have to do is watch the sun on the nearby shore with me."  Hayden's calloused eyes were fixed on me. Anger rippled the muscles of his jaw but he remained silent. It was almost painful to see how he hated it. And I knew that he was reluctant to accept my proposal. To be exact, he was more than willing to choke me for hurting his dear Florence, his beloved woman. For her, it was possible for him to watch the sunset with me willingly. But what he did not know was that a pathetically weak woman like me could not injure anyone at all. I was so malnourished that the wind could easily blow me away. If Florence had not deliberately provoked me into this ugly fight she started, I wouldn't have even touched Florence's clothes at all. Speaking of clothes, I cast a glance at Florence's dress which once used to belong to me. It was a white and pink dress which was embroidered with a dress that was indeed lovely. Hayden adored patterns of flowers. In my old wardrobe, eight out of ten dresses were in such patterns. It was he who had bought them for me. Florence's dress was tidy without any crease and the patterns on its current owner were fresh and outstanding. As for its original owner, me... I looked so wretched and pitiful with my watery eyes, as if the pain had penetrated my fragile bones. My chest wretched with a sudden load of emotions. Grief, anger, fright, desolation. I was tired of proving myself. How did I end upto to this? I smiled lightly. "Miss White, may I know what you do for a living or are you a freeloader?" Hearing that, Florence suddenly trembled with terror and buried her face in Hayden's arms at once, saying in a coquettish voice, "Hayden…" "Don't worry. I got you. I won't let her hurt you." Hayden's voice was more than gentle as he encircled Florence’s waist and stroked her hair.   But as soon as he looked at me, the tenderness in his eyes disappeared in an instant. "Why do you want to know about it?" I replied with a chuckle, "I'm just curious." "It's none of your business. Stela, I advise you not to lay your hands on Florence." "Hayden King, I advise you not to talk to me this way because I don't know what I might do when I go insane!"    "You…"    I almost laughed out loud while seeing me Hayden seemed so furious but dared not to retort for the sake of Florence.    Everyone had an Achilles heel. My Achilles heel was my son, while Hayden's was Florence.    Hayden, as I’m already a villain in your heart, why not just go all the way and become an even more wicked villain?   There's no point in fighting when you would never believe in me in any way. I put an indifference mask and strode past them, opened the door, and entered the villa. Before shutting the door, I turned towards Hayden and said, "I'll wait for you at the sea shore at evening 5 pm." I then reached my bedroom on the second floor, which had a large French window.    When I looked outside, I found that Hayden and Florence had already left.    Maybe he had taken Florence to the hospital, fearing for her safety.    How fast he had gone! He must have been very worried about Florence.    After all, a man like him would protect his beloved ones in every way.    Me, the one-time apple of his eye, had been gradually perceived as filth by him for that Florence managed to replace me. My heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand pieces, although that was impossible since it had already been broken. When was the last time I’d truly felt happy? But it didn’t matter any more. What was done could not be undone, and I was unable to change anything. All I hoped for was to get pregnant and save my son. I took out my phone, fixed it on a stand, and pressed the video record button. In front of the camera, I faked a gentle smile, even though it pained me inside, "Aelius my son, this is your Mom. I don't know if you'll see this video. But when you see this video, I might be unable to stay by your side anymore. However, don't be sad. I'll be on another planet where there will be a lot of flowers, green long grasses, high-peak mountains, and glistening rivers. It will be beautiful, and also… peaceful and quiet." I smiled as motherly tenderness shimmered in my eyes. I willed myself to breathe evenly. "I might not be able to see you grow up, but you have to believe that mommy loves you deeply. I've been thinking about giving you officially a name when you get well and get ready for school. And today, I finally came up with the best one, Aelius, meaning the sun because I hope that you will always glow and radiate brightly, just like the sun." "Aelius, if you ever miss me, just look up at the sky and the stars. Your mommy will always be there to watch over you every night…" My determination didn’t last long. I was falling apart. Choked with tears, I immediately covered my mouth and stopped recording. I didn’t want Aelius to see me crying like this. He shouldn't know how broken and lonely his mother was. Having saved the video on a USB drive, I walked downstairs and mailed it out.
