Kiara didn't look back after father walked away. I wanted to follow her, but Lysander was still beside me and several people were moving through the hall. Father had already questioned her once because of what happened at breakfast. Giving him another reason to watch her wouldn't help us.
Lysander and I headed outside together. The council meeting had given me more questions than answers, especially after mother mentioned Silvercrest. Father had ended that part of the conversation before anyone could ask much. I wanted to know why.
