Where innocence ends.

The kiss deepens, slow and intoxicating, until Arden pulls back with agonizing care, his broad body hovering above yours on the soft wool bedroll. His heavy frame is a shield of pure heat, but he keeps every ounce of his weight off you, supporting himself on his forearms so you never feel trapped. With infinite patience, his long, calloused fingers trace a slow, reverent trail down your arms, unfastening the remaining ties of your tunic with smooth, steady movements. Every touch is deliberate, worshipful, and devoid of rush. When he parts your thighs, he pauses completely, his broad palms framing your face while those mesmerising golden eyes burn down into yours. Within those golden depths, a storm of dark desire clashes with a fierce, almost terrifying protective reverence; he is a man standing on the edge of a precipice, overwhelmed by the sanctity of your trust. He shifts forward with unbelievable slowness, taking extra care to ease you into the feeling. When the brief, inevitable sting hits, Arden freezes instantly, a low, pained gasp catching in his throat. He doesn't move an inch deeper, his jaw tight as he fights his own dark, surging instincts, refusing to cause you even a second of unnecessary pain. He leans down, pressing soft, reassuring kisses over your eyelids, your cheekbones, and the corner of your mouth. "Ame," he rumbles in a dark, strained whisper, his chest heaving against yours as his thumb tenderly strokes your jawline. "Are you alright, Princess? Tell me." You take a shuddering breath, feeling the initial pinch quickly dissolve beneath the sheer, overwhelming warmth of his body and the absolute gentleness of his touch. In your chest, a profound sense of awe blossoms, for the first time in your life, you are not a pawn, nor an object of a tyrant's demand, but a woman completely cherished. You look into his glowing gold eyes, a breathless, completely serene smile touching your lips. "I'm okay." you whisper softly, wrapping your arms around his broad shoulders and pulling him closer until your skin meets his. "More than okay, Den. Please, don't stop." A ragged, breathless groan escapes his lips at your words, the last lingering thread of his rigid tension snapping. He captures your mouth in a deep, agonizingly sweet kiss, drinking in your soft gasps as he begins to move with a slow, careful rhythm. With every gentle stroke, the faint discomfort vanishes entirely, replaced by a deep, soaring heat that spreads from the pit of your stomach through your entire body. It is unlike anything you have ever imagined, a heavy, velvet tide that leaves you feeling weightless, dizzy, and utterly safe in his arms. Arden watches your face intently in the amber firelight, his own breath ragged, his heart thumping like a war drum against your chest. For him, every quiet gasp you let out, every soft sigh against his neck, is a sacred gift—a quiet victory over the dark world that tried to break you both. His hands cradle your waist, guiding you with effortless grace as the heat builds into a fierce, intoxicating peak. He whispers dark, quiet praises against your throat, his golden eyes filled with pure devotion as he carries you both over the edge into a breathless, lingering bliss—marking your memory forever with love, safety, and absolute surrender. Later, as the fire settles into a low, deep crimson glow in the hearth, the watchtower is quiet save for the howl of the mountain wind far above. You are wrapped tightly in the heavy woolen blankets, resting entirely against Arden’s chest. He sits propped against the stone wall, his powerful arms wrapped protectively around you, holding you flush against his radiant body heat. His long, calloused fingers slowly comb through your auburn hair in a rhythmic, soothing motion, while his chest rises and falls in a deep, steady cadence beneath your cheek. He presses a soft, lingering kiss to the crown of your head, his voice dropping into a low, rumbling purr that vibrates right through you. "How are you feeling, Princess?" Arden whispers softly into the dark, his golden eyes glowing with an overwhelming, protective tenderness. "A bit sore, but also incredible," I say, a soft, breathless giggle escaping my lips as I turn fully into his side, burying my face into the warm, solid breadth of his chest. I inhale the deep, comforting scent of pine, smoke, and cedar that clings to his skin. "And you? Was it alright for you?" Arden lets out a low, deep rumble of laughter that vibrates right through his ribs, wrapping both arms securely around my back and pulling me so close that not a single sliver of cold air can reach us. "Alright?" he repeats softly, his gravelly voice thick with a dark, breathtaking awe. "Ame, alright doesn't even begin to describe it. It was everything. You are everything." He rests his chin on the crown of my head, his calloused fingers tracing gentle, soothing circles along my bare back beneath the heavy woolen blanket. The stoic, cold Blackhand guard is completely gone; in his place is a man completely undone by love, holding me as if I am the most precious treasure in the entire realm. "I promised to keep you safe, Princess," Arden whispers into the dark stone chamber, pressing a long, tender kiss into my hair as the firelight flickers against the walls. "And every day from here on out, I'm going to make sure you never forget how much you mean to me." “Have you ever taken someone’s innocence before or was I the first?” Arden stilled completely, his long fingers pausing mid-stroke in my hair. For a long, heavy moment, the only sound in the dark watchtower was the quiet crackle of the hearth and the steady cadence of his breath against my forehead. The question hung in the warm air, raw and vulnerable, digging into a past he had long tried to bury beneath steel and blood. Slowly, Arden pulled back just enough to look down at me. His mesmerising golden eyes were dark, reflective in the amber glow of the dying embers, filled with an unbearable honesty. "You were the first, Ame," Arden rumbles softly, his gravelly voice dropping into a low, quiet whisper that vibrated right against my skin. He lifted a broad, calloused hand, his long fingers gently cupping my cheek, thumb tracing the soft curve of my cheekbone with excruciating care. "In my line of work, in the dark places I've been, intimacy was never about gentleness, or beginnings, or give and take," he whispered, his golden eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart leap. "The women I encountered in the past were experienced, hardened by the world, just as I was. It was quick, cold, and transactional. A way to feel human for an hour before going back to the blood." He leaned down, resting his forehead against mine, his hot breath fanning across my lips. "I have never guided anyone through their first time," Arden rasped, his chest heaving as he held me close against his solid frame. "I have never been given a gift like the one you gave me tonight. You trusted me with your innocence, Princess and I swear on my life, I will spend the rest of my days making sure you never regret it." “How did it feel? Was it different? Describe it to me. And just so you know, you were wonderful, so gentle. I don’t even have words Den. It was better than I could have ever imagined.” A breathtaking, reverent smile tugs at the corners of Arden's mouth, the tension in his broad shoulders melting into absolute, helpless devotion. Hearing you call him Den again, coupled with the soft praise in your voice, lights a warm, fierce fire in his golden eyes. He turns slightly beneath the heavy blankets, gathering you even closer until you are cradled against his heart. His long, calloused fingers reach up, gently tracing the line of your jaw before tucking a stray lock of auburn hair behind your ear. "How did it feel?" he repeats in a low, gravelly rasp, his breath hot against your temple as he takes a deep, steadying breath. "Gods, Princess, it was completely different. It was night and day." He lowers his head, resting his forehead against yours, his mesmerizing gold eyes burning down into yours with raw, unshielded honesty. "In the past, it was just, noise. Flesh and survival, forgotten the moment the cold set back in," Arden whispers, his voice dropping into a dark, reverent hush. "But with you? It felt sacred. Every touch, every gasp, every breath you gave me felt like a miracle I didn't deserve. Holding you, feeling you yield to me and trust me with all that you are, it shattered me, Ame." His broad hand slides down to rest gently over your hip, pulling you flush against his radiant body heat as a low, rumbling hum vibrates in his chest. "You were so tight, so soft, and so infinitely sweet," he rasps, pressing a lingering, feather-light kiss to the corner of your lips. "Watching your eyes soften, knowing that I was the one giving you pleasure instead of fear. There are no words in any language for what that did to me. I felt like a king, and I felt like a servant at your feet all at once." He pauses, his calloused thumb gently caressing your cheekbone as a faint, wickedly handsome smirk touches his lips. "And to hear you say I was wonderful?" Arden murmurs against your skin, his dark chuckle warming your neck. "That might be the greatest victory of my life, Princess. Better than any battle I've ever won."
