Chapter 21 (Part 2)

She went to Hall M in silence, with Arcane in tow. Good thing the guy decided to shut up now so she could at least have a few minutes of peace to think things through.

It seems like the guy is hell-bent on believing that she’s the real Calista, despite all her denial. She expected a fake one would pop out of nowhere, but she didn’t think it was someone who was obviously… fake. Whichever family sent the girl didn’t even exert any effort to teach her basic manners and to actually look the part.

Did they think the real Song heiress would act and speak that way? She’s acting like a spoiled brat from a nouveau riche family instead of an old-money clan. Not to mention, the tacky clothes she wore! It was so apparent that someone just put her in something expensive.

Won’t there be someone who’s actually believable, at least? He must have been confused for a while there, but it didn’t last long for sure.

Once they rounded a corner and finally saw Hall M in the distance, a group of people in front of the building instantly caught their attention. It was the other Masquerades with Principal Huo and two other figures – a man and a girl.

Her eyes travelled towards the girl and Calista immediately smiled. That’s what I’m talking about!

“Ahh… look at that, another one. You’re quite the heartthrob, Wong, but it looks like it’s the real one this time.” She glanced at her companion and saw the dark expression all over his face, causing her to chuckle.

The nearer they got, the more amazed she felt towards this new ‘Calista.’ How could she forget about that one important factor? The wavy auburn hair! That’s what she and the other fake one don’t have, and this one has. Yes! Finally, someone believable. And she arrived with a chauffeur? Good… good.

When she turned to look at the said chauffeur, her step almost faltered seeing the familiar man. And it looked like the latter also recognized her, because he suddenly stood still on his spot as he visibly turned pale.

Isn’t this our former butler, Peter? What is he doing here?

“Here he is!” Principal Huo broke the silence as the two finally arrived. He caught the old man glancing at her with a spiteful look before smilingly turning to Arcane and gesturing at the newcomers. “It seems like we have made a mistake twice now, Young Master Arcane, here is the real—“

“Are you going to accept every Calista Song who applies in Xian, now?” Arcane’s deep voice uttered in a threatening tone. “How f*****g desperate…”

Calista didn’t bother listening to the two and observed the girl from head to toe. Just the right amount of designer clothes and accessories, demure and has that sophisticated air, petite – just like her – fair complexion and that eye-catching auburn hair… perfect! It seemed like Peter was now working for another family and he helped them find this perfect candidate.

Hmm… now that she’s closely examining her, don’t they look quite the same?

“If you ask me… I think this one’s the real one,” Jada suddenly stepped forward, nodding towards the new girl. “I mean, look at her.”

Quite a shallow opinion, but she agrees! And it looks like Hunter is also Team New Girl.

Cali glanced at Arcane and was met by his wary eyes. Would you look at that? Are his beliefs finally crumbling?

“The real one is here, Wong, will you let go of me now?” She finally dropped the million-dollar question.

“Arc…” the new Calista softly called out. “It’s me, Alice.”

Instead of the girl, Cali looked at Peter who was now sweating bullets. She smiled, earning a look of surprise from the man.
