Chapter 6

I got up and looked at the clock. It was only eleven. I do not have to go to my dad’s till six. I noticed suddenly nobody was there. I know I had friends crashing on my floor when I went to bed last night. Then Rose came in and then ran back out screaming she was up. They all came into my room singing happy birthday. Thank everyone. I said, after they finished, my mom handed me a card and said this here. I read the card.

Happy birthday, sweetheart. We hope today wraps you up in all the love you give so freely to everyone around you. You have grown into such a caring, thoughtful, and loving young woman, and watching you become who you have been one of the greatest joys of our lives. Another visa card I asked. Yes, my mom said there was $600 each to help you out with school. School is expensive, you will learn that soon, my mom said. Thanks, I said as I got out of bed and hugged the family. “What are we chopping liver?” said Rose & Owen. I gave them big hugs as well. Let us get ready and eat some food," my mom said. OK, we all said. What time must you be at your dad’s mom asked? 6 I said. OK, we have time," mom said as she walked out.

I got dressed and headed out with everyone else. Pizza here, my mom yelled as I was walking out. Pizza, I asked my mom. Yes, my mom said it is almost twelve, so why not have some lunch? Why would you rather have me make you some breakfast? No pizza is simply fine, I said to my mom as I walked up and gave her a hug and then got none of the pizza line. As I walked to the end of it, as soon as I got to the end of the line, everybody started pushing me forward screaming Happy birthday, Happy birthday again. I got to the front of the pizza line, and I got to be first. I looked at all the choices. There were four kinds of pizzas: pepperoni, cheese, Hawaiian and then all meat. I grabbed a slice of Hawaiian and all the meat and went and sat down at the kitchen table. My mom came up and said, Since you have friends over, you guys can sit in the living room and eat, so that way there is enough room for everybody. Thanks mom," I said as my friends and I went into the living room sitting on the couch and started talking and eating our pizza. After that, we all got up, helped clean and then hung out for a little while. Out of nowhere it was 5 PM. M. Will I guess it will be time for us to get ready and go? I said. OK, they both said, and off in my car we all went.
