Lydia stopped chatting and looked at Edith.
“What did you say?"
Judith turned and cheerfully ushered the bride-to-be towards the car.
She whispered loudly, “She's going to buy the drinks tonight!"
“Woohoo!" Theresa laughed. “Let's go!"
“I'll drive," Judith said to Edith through gritted teeth.
Edith glanced at the vampire once more, and felt a jolt of fear as she realized he was walking towards them.
Judith read her friend's look of concern and started the car, jumping into gear as soon as Edith shut her door.
“Oh!" cried Theresa.
“What's going on?" Lydia gasped.
Edith looked out the back window to see a sleek, new blue car pull abruptly away from the curb and pull up behind them.
“Our old friends are back," she said, hoping her voice wasn't trembling.
Judith increased speed.
