(O’Flynne P.O.V.)
Well that was the fastest dinner I had ever been to with a mixture of Vampire and Human, most dinners with a mixture end at the pace of the food eating participants. Not at Vampire speeds, The Master really wanted the situation with Marcus dealt with and fast seeing how he has been taking care of the household I could defiantly understand why. After Marcus was dealt with The Master then asked the questions I expected, about the change how it happened. I hoped he got the answers he was looking for, I gave the information I was allowed.
The Master seemed pleased with the answers he received, because he excused us to the Parlor which was a more informal setting. When we had settled in to the Parlor which had a light fire and may candles burning around to have plenty of light he asked about my journey thus far, he wanted to know my thoughts and views of memorable events. I was happy to oblige, I knew that if he could see that I really was trying to embrace this new life I was given there was a better chance of him letting me leave with Kataya. He then gave me some helpful advice for showing my appreciate to the Master of Kenthen. This was extremely helpful one thing I had discovered on this journey is that my people skills were lacking greatly.
He then asked me to elaborate on the events of me seeing Kataya. How do I explain something I do not fully understand myself, but something happened that I was not really expecting. By his asking my mind started to put together the emotions and thoughts as to why I knew she was the one I was looking for. Then the fact that she was being held in such a horrible place, a place that I knew well even a part of me was comfortable in such a place. Somehow she captivated my very harden soul and was able to move me to the point of wanting to rip the cell part to get to her. To hunt down those responsible for the pain as well as the hurt she had endured. Somehow I found the words to describe this to him, and without much effort, it seemed like thy flowed out of my mouth like a stream of water. He then asked a question I was not expecting:
“I am curious, what would you do with someone who would who has stolen, extorted and flat out lied to you?”
“Hmm” I thought about this a moment there had to be a reason for this question though I had a few ideas as to the purpose of this question.
“Is this person in a position of trust?” I asked.
His answer would help me I hoped to determine where he was going with this line of questions, I was curious. It had truly been a while since someone did something I was not expecting. This could be interesting. He spoke:
“Yes, this person has been well treated everything this person had is because of their service to you.” The Master said.
Well, this was not where I thought this would go, I could not tell if he was asking for my opinion or if he was asking about someone in particular, either way I gave a truthful answer. This was not a hard answer to give, as I spoke my mind drift to Kataya, I wanted to see. I wanted to take care of her wounds, as well as be there when she woke up. I also wanted to help her feel safe I just did not know how to help her feel safe. My attention was brought back when the The Master said:
“Now I will add that this person is Marcus.”
My anger flashed instantly. I knew he could see, I knew why he asked this he wanted to see my reactions he wanted to see if there would be a difference in my answer. I regain my composure quickly, however my anger still burned inside while I gave my answer I pointed out that there were a few items missing from the list of offenses. I then turned to the local law, I knew if I gave anything but the local law I would lose control and kill Marcus as well as anyone with I came across. Finally I had regained control enough when he said this:
“Yes it is. But I did not ask you what the law was, I asked you what would you do? If he was a member of your household.”
He did take me by surprise with his reason for asking this line of questions. This was not one of the reasons I had thought of. I truly was surprised it had been a long time since someone was able to do that to me. I had noticed at dinner that The Master was watching me closely, I could guess his reason so I continued to answer truthfully he had not given me a reason so far not to give him the truth.
“I see. My Lord I well, frankly I would give him a taste of what he had done. Then turn him over to the traveling Marshal. Where my home is that is the only law enforcement.” I said.
His face revealed that he was pleased with my answer. Then he said as much and explained the reason for his question that evening. I was not surprised by his reasons. He had given me quite a bit to think about this evening. I barely remembered that a servant had entered and placed the tray that was sitting between us once he was finished speaking h pour us a glass each. The smell of the blood reached me I was dumbfounded for a moment. I could feel my eyes change to a reddish purple of hunger and lust, it happened to fast that I could not control the glow that I knew was happening. I finally gathered myself enough to speak:
“Is this…….Is this her blood.?’
The Master smiled and answered:
“Yes it is. I have discovered a way to store blood for short periods of time makes traveling easier. I thought you’d like to try some before you decided she was fit for food.”
“Thank you for the sample.” I said.
I was greatly relieved that this was not fresh from Kataya, she would not be able to handle that right now. She was weak enough I was not sure if he had seen her yet, but from what I had seen of his treatment of the household it would be unthinkable of him to get fresh blood from her in her condition.
Her blood was intoxicating, it was all I could do to keep my lust under control, it was if her scent was consuming me. Then I tasted the blood that was in my glass, it was as delicious as it smelled. I had been fool over the years the smell is not always the true taste of blood, however in this case her blood was even better than it smelled. It was sweet yet not to the point of being sickeningly sweet, it was rich but not to the point of being to much. It was smooth but not to the point of being magically faked. I sat there savoring her flavor it truly was the best I had tasted. The Master the asked:
“Do you like the way she taste?”
“Yes I do. It is very different from what I have tasted over the years.” I answered
He smiled in a knowing manner, we then both sat there for a silent moment enjoying the flavor. A servant entered then spoke:
“My Lords, she has been cleaned and her wounds treated and moved as requested.” she said.
“Thank you.” said The Master.
She left, and I wondered if he would permit me to see her tonight. Then as if he had read my my mind he said:
“Would you like to see her?” The Master asked.
“Yes, I really would.” I answered,
“Good, come lets go and see her.” The Master said.
We existed the Parlor he lead the way to the second floor, the same floor my room was on, I wondered if he had done this on purpose. We entered a room that was across from my room, I noticed as soon as we walked in there was only one candle in the room it was also on a table that was about 50 feet from the bed. The bed had drapes all around the bed to keep as little light as possible from over whelming her senses. I was impressed by this care, it was better than I had imagined. I knew he would take care of her but this was beyond what I had seen many masters do for their own servants.
The Headmistress was there in the room she was at the table that the one candle was one she was making sure that there was medicines there and the right ones as well as levels. She was whispering instructions to the servants that stood close to her The Master walked over to her, I followed behind him. I wanted to know how she was doing, as well as what had been done for her.
“How is she?” The Master asked.
“My Lord, she is very weak. After we washed her, we were very gentle, she has not had a proper bath in weeks, anyways we put ointments on her wounds to help with the infection that is in several of her wounds. Every hour we give her a sip of cooled broth. She has not woken up since we brought her here.” The Headmistress answered.
I could tell from her tone that she wanted to kill Marcus for this as well as a few other things. It seemed to me the list of offenses was getting longer by the hour. She was also worried about Kataya. Her condition was not good in any way, it seemed she had gotten worse since they moved her.
“May I?” I asked and pointed to the bed.
“Yes, My Lord, I am not sure if she will give much of a response.” the Headmistress answered.
I smiled kindly and said: “That is alright. I know she is getting the best care.”
That probably confused the Headmistress but it was more for The Master than her, I walked over as quietly as I could I knew that any loud sudden noises would not help in her waking up, I gently slipped through the drapes. Even in the very dim light I could tell she was not doing well. She may be clean, and in a comfortable bed but she had gotten used to the mistreatment. Her body did not know what to do with this it was fight with it self whether to give up or to keep fighting.
I sat down gently on the edge of the bed, I just looked at her. I heard The Master come through the drapes he stood at the foot of the bed I knew he was watching, I did not care. All I cared about was laying in front of me, she was ill. I gently ran my fingers across her face, her skin was soft in places and slightly rough in others she had not been allowed to clean properly I knew this, yet it still pained me greatly. I knew that pain was showing on my face. Part of my wished I could help her more than just sitting her, I sat there staring at her I could see her beauty it was captivating.
