The Vampire's Dinner

(O’Flynne P.O.V.) The once Headmaster was now being lead away by the guards, which just left me and The Master alone in the dinning hall. The Master smiled and showed his fangs, to most this would have been unsettling. But I had already figured out that he was Vampire, he seemed pleased with himself. Things had certainly gone quickly that was for sure Marcus had not even finished his food, he was barely half way through what was before him. If I had to judge by his sized he could have finished of what was before him easily. The Master turned to me then said: "Well that is taken care of for the moment. O'Flynne, before we discuss terms of purchase, I want to know more about you." "Of course, My Lord, what would you like to know?" O'Flynne answered. "Well, how is it you came to be this changed Vampire before me? I do understand that there are somethings that no words can explain. Please tell me what you can." said The Master in a fatherly tone, then smiled. I sat there a moment I was not surprised by this question. I however did not know where to begin with an explanation. I wondered why he wanted to know, many questions raced through my mind. ‘Was he asking to ensure his stock would be taken care when they left? Or was he wanting conformation of rumors?’ These two questions stayed the longest in my mind. I looked at him nodded to show that I had heard him as well as understood. I gathered my thoughts, then spoke: “Well, since you are aware of my reputation, then I am sure you have heard how people would describe me, cruel, even sadistic. I had done horrible things in my life as a Vampire. One of the last events that can be proven I was there, is actually what caught the attention of the High Order. I had destroyed a build called by many Thiessen. The building Thiessen was a very important building to the High Order, the reasons for the buildings importance I am not at liberty to disclose.” I paused a moment. I sat there starring at the crystal goblet before me, in my mind I saw the blood of those I killed that fateful night. I could hear their screams. I sat there just starring into the blood in the goblet, I do not know how much time had passed. But the feeling of guilt was almost overwhelming, yet at the same time I was so comfortable doing what I did. How could I do such horrible things, a part of me still craved it, the excitement, the blood, the screams. Another part of me was disgusted by what I could do, as well as what I had done. I looked up and saw The Master, it seemed like he could see the battle I was facing internally, he smiled encouragingly, I knew I had to continue. “As I am sure you can imagine, with my reputation what happened to the people in the building that night. No on survived. After that bloodbath the High Order decided that something had to be done. The details as to what took place in the decision making process I do not know. I also am not at liberty to tell you any details about the members or how many members there are. Any direct questions about the High Order is not something I can disclose for this I apologize in advance. I can tell you that I was imprisoned, in a place I have never seen. It was here that I faced what could be described as a court or a judge. Through great deliberations, by means of many questions about many topics as well as other methods. The High Order came to a decision.” I paused. This time when I paused I drank some of the blood from the goblet before me. The memories of these events were recent enough that they should not feel like a life time ago, but somehow they did. I did not understand exactly what happened to me but I would try and explain it the best I could. “The decision was an offer death, this death would be done in the most horrible way possible, or I could live if I accepted a full character change. I would still be me, however the traits that could lead to the same path in life would be altered. I would not have the same attitude towards living beings, nor would I view the world as it has been describe ‘a play ground’. I agreed to the change, things from here get hard to explain, My Lord. I can describe what happened but I do not know much more than that.” I paused. This paused was to make sure that he understood that any questions about details of how things worked I probably did not have an answer for. The Master nodded and spoke: “That is alright, explain what you can.” “Yes, My Lord I was taken to an old ruin that I have never seen, nor do I think I could find it again on my own. This ruin was somewhere in the forest, I do not know which one. Several mages dressed in all black were there, when I was walked to my position they began a chant. Then the surrounds started to change in appearance from the darkness of the night to a white light that engulfed me. What happened during this time I do not know nor do I know for how long I was there. I refer to this as the Time of Light. When I came to I was still with the High Order but not as a prisoner, but as a guest. They were satisfied with the process. I was then told that I had 1 year to find someone, a Fairy. I was not told anything about the Fairy or where to look. All I was told was “you will know.” I have been on this search for 10 months, and I believe that I have found who I was sent to find, Kataya. That is what has happened and how I have become the Vampire I am now.” I said. When I stopped I took a drink. I had done it, I had told my story. I had not realized how much that weighted on me. I then sat there in silence, for a long while I could tell that The Master was think over everything I had just told him. He took a drink then said: “I see. There is much information there now I wonder, what are your thoughts and feelings of your actions before this ‘Time of Light’ as you call it?” “My Lord, my own feelings about most things I have done are both clear and confused. I remember the joy at the time, then I am both disgusted with what I have done as well as guilt for those for who I have killed.” I answered. He watched my every move, my every expression as if to see some tell that I was lying. I was telling the truth as much of it as I could. I hoped he would see that. “O’Flynne, I have talked with my household and the report of you have confirmed that you have had a change of heart. You have treated them well, even the Feeders given to you for your use, have given high praise of your treatment of them. Unlike the reports I have received about my own Headmaster. Which brings us to a topic of concern for you, Kataya. Please tell me what happened when you saw her.” the Master said. “My Lord, I am not entirely sure how to explain this. Marcus, has been, well to be bluntly honest a pain in the ass, about everything have to do with the slaves. Once we finally got down to see them, I was upset by how they were being treated. When Kataya, moved and I heard her Marcus became nervous. Once I insisted that he let me in the cell block, and I saw her.” I paused I knew my anger was flashing across my face I felt my eye change to a red black. “I see, the conditions upset you.” The Master said “Yes, My Lord, to be more actuate it angered me greatly. This is the only person to have ever triggered a response of caring this strong in me, in my whole life. I want, well I want to care for her. I want her in my life. I want to protect her.” I said. “I see.” the master replied. “Did the thought of hurting the one responsible cross your mind?” “Yes, it did. However that is not my place. Those responsible as well as her are members of your household” I answered. I could tell this surprised The Master a little, but also pleased him. “Well, I am glad to hear that. Now as you said they are members of, my home I would like to see your interactions with Kataya. She also can help bring those responsible to justice. Shall we say a two week time of my observations of your actions personally, then we can discuss terms of purchase, if I am satisfied.” The Master said. “My Lord, that is most acceptable. I do have a request if possible?” I asked. “Yes, O’Flynne?” asked The Master. “Could Kataya be moved to quarters, well more suitable for healing?” I asked. “It has already been arranged. She has been moved to a room on the second floor.” The Master said with a smile. “Thank you My Lord.” I said and smiled both to show my appreciation and to myself knowing she would be warm and taken care of. “I hope you enjoyed the food?” The Master asked. “Yes, was it from one of the Fairies, My Lord?” I responded. “Yes it was, from a one of the best for dinners that I have. Some say Fairies are a desert food, but I disagree. What is your opinion?” The Master asked. “I have not had the chance to try many Fairies, but this was quite satisfying.” I replied. “Good to hear. Why don’t we retired to the parlor for something little sweeter, then we can talk and get to know each other a bit more?” The Master asked with a kind smile.
