Thinking this, Ye Jin slapped his head and jumped up. The Ye estate's secret underground vault!
Reality and game equipment were different. But Ye Jin didn't mind testing it.
If he found stat-boosting gear to equip, his talent would multiply. A genius learning mid-tier martial arts? Easy! Maybe he'd even find high-grade manuals!
Young Master Ye's mind soared with fantasies.
The Ye Pack ruled by strict etiquette. Only the eldest son, after his coming-of-age ceremony, could freely enter the vault with his jade token.
But the Second Madam controlled the vault now. She lacked the token. So she posted guards instead.
Ye Jin was the eldest son. He had every right to enter. But the Second Madam's loyal guards blocked everyone.
Thinking of his recent torment, killing intent rose in Ye Jin's heart. You show no mercy, don't blame me for showing none. Young Master Ye always repaid kindness a thousandfold. And grudges too.
Ye Jin returned to his hall. Piao Ling sat meditating on the couch. She opened her eyes.
"What is it, Young Master?"
Piao Ling ghosted after him. Ye Jin strode to the back courtyard. She followed silently.
The Ye estate was heavily guarded. No assassins could get in. Piao Ling didn't need to stick close.
The Ye vault sat in the back garden. Heavily fortified. Four muscular guards in heavy armor stood by the stone door. Blades drawn. Like door gods.
The vault was eighteen zhang underground. Thick bluestone outside. Cast steel inside. The hollow walls were filled with mercury. Any thief digging in would be drowned instantly.
The four guards were Rank 6 or 7 Warriors. Madam Wan's bought muscle. These guards always smiled to his face and stabbed him in the back. After his disgrace, they grew bold.
"Halt! Young Master, this is a restricted area. No entry." The guard blocked him coldly.
Ye Jin flashed his jade token. "Do you know what this is?"
"The eldest son's token. Obviously." The guard rolled his eyes. "But the Madam said no entry."
"Does the Madam's word outrank Ye Pack law?" Rage ignited in Ye Jin. He stared coldly. "Ye law says the Alpha's eldest son may enter the vault freely. Even the Second Madam has no right to bar me."
The guard hesitated. He sneered. Looked away. Dismissive.
Ye Jin stared. The guard didn't budge. "I'll count to three. Move, or face the consequences."
The guard's lip curled. A mocking smirk. He picked his nose. Flicked it. "One." Ye Jin raised a finger. "Two." "Three! You dog..."
Violence flashed in Ye Jin's eyes. His right hand turned. A short blade slid from his sleeve. Stab. Right into the guard's gut.
Ye Jin came from a TCM family. He knew anatomy. The blade slipped under the ribs. Pierced the liver. Through the spleen. No one survives that for three minutes.
"Hkk!" The nose-picking guard froze. Cold steel in his gut. Agonizing pain exploded through him. His eyes bulged. He stared at Ye Jin. Gurgling sounds rose from his throat. Blood geysered from the wound. He never dreamed Ye Jin would dare kill him!
Ye Jin bared his white teeth. He twisted the hilt. Like a blender. The guard's HP bar plummeted.
"Hkk!" His eyes stayed wide. He collapsed.
"You... you killed him!" The other three guards froze. Instinct took over. They charged, weapons swinging.
"You dare strike me? Piao Ling! Kill them!" Ye Jin pointed.
A dark shadow flew from behind Ye Jin. A whirlwind. Ghostly speed. Clang. A short sword parried their blades. A flash of cold light.
The three guards' throats opened. They dropped. Like butchered chickens. Blood sprayed like waterfalls. Bodies twitched on the ground.
Servants and guards rushed in. They saw the bloodbath. They froze.
"Anyone else dare block me?" Ye Jin turned slowly. He stood amid corpses and blood. Like a slaughter god.
He wiped the bloody blade on a corpse. His eyes swept the room. "Are you here to stop me? Or something else?"
"We wouldn't dare!" The newly arrived guards dropped to their knees. They kowtowed like pounding garlic. "Please, Young Master! Please!"
"I leave in a month." Ye Jin's voice was flat. "But for that month, I am still the Young Master here!"
Every servant and guard lay prostrate. Silent.
"Good!" Ye Jin roared. He pointed at the twitching guard in the blood. "Drag these four dogs out! Hang their corpses outside the estate gates for three days! Let every Ye servant see! This is the price of breaking pack law!"
His killing intent swept the room. Every guard felt ice grip their heart. They shivered. Dropped to their knees.
"Without a lesson, you dogs would never know who your master is." Ye Jin sneered. He strode toward the underground vault.
"Piao Ling, guard this place. Kill anyone who approaches."
Ye Jin entered the passage. He stood before the vault door. Cast steel. Granite outer wall. No thief could break in.
The steel door was covered in relief carvings. Ye Jin traced them. He found a depression in the door frame. He inserted the jade token. It sank in. He twisted.
Creak. The steel door ground open. Stone steps led down into the dark. Not far ahead, another iron door appeared.
