Scavengers L.J. SkeltonMaya Hawkins hates that she is the only kid her age left in her neighborhood. She gets so bored, playing by herself all the time. Sometimes she tries to get someone older to play with her, but they are even more boring. “You can’t do that,” is all they ever say. “Don’t go over there. Don’t, don’t, don’t, blah blah blah.” That’s what Maya hears, anyway. So she plays by herself, inventing her own games.
