Chapter 24

940 Words

Sable's POV The crowd didn't disperse right away. People kept staring, kept murmuring, kept throwing glances my way like they were waiting for me to do something else impossible right in front of them. Ivy finally pushed her way through and got a hand under my arm, hauling me up before my legs could decide on their own whether they still worked. "Alright, show's over!" she said, loud enough to carry. "Give her some room." The crowd shifted back reluctantly, though the whispering didn't stop. I let Ivy steer me away from the scout, who was already sitting up fully now, prodding at his own ribs like he still didn't quite believe they'd healed. "You good?" Ivy asked, once we put some distance between us and the crowd. "I think so." My legs felt steadier than they had with Bram, at least.
