Ash's POV:
As I neared the training field, I spotted the council's champion. He was one of their trained hand-to-hand fighters I had met him a couple times over the years and knew him to be quite skilled.
Our eyes meet briefly and he gave me a Savage sneer. He wasn't a bad man per say but he definitely wasn't a good one.
I could see why the council used him he wasn't connected to any of the packs which made him expendable but at the same time a great asset to them. This challenge wasn't to the death but that didn't mean there wasn't a chance of him dying. Which is why they chose somebody like him. If he was to die in this challenge it wouldn't cause any bad blood between them and the pack he came from.
I went and sat down by Gray and grabbed a bottle of water. Downing half the bottle I asked
"What are you thinking about?"
"I'm thinking he's too cocky, too sure of himself, that's going to be his downfall." he states
"I think you're right about him being too cocky." I say glancing at Sheamus the council's hand-to-hand fighter
He was currently glaring at me.
Standing I stripped my shirt and finished the other half of my bottle of water and headed to the ring just as councilman Williams calls us. Climbing through the ropes I head to the center of the Ring.
"Alright, now the only way out of this is to yield or to knock your opponent unconscious. Any Questions?" Williams asks
"no, sir" Sheamus and I say at the same time.
"Alright let's get this started" williams says then Sheamus and I pound our fists against each other's then back up.
"On three fight." Williams says glancing back and forth at both of us.
"One......two.....three fight!" Williams shouts as the crowd of pack members and visiting wolves start shouting.
Sheamus comes barreling at me and tries to deliver a left haymaker I duck out of the way and deliver a 1-2 jab combo to his ribs. He steps back with a bit of a confused look realizing that I am going to be more of a challenge than he originally thought.
Pivoting his body he sets up to deliver a roundhouse kick to my ribs I try blocking it but the force of it sends me reeling backwards he comes at me before I get a chance to recover and delivers an uppercut to my jaw. I spit out blood.
Finally recovering, I let him have a haymaker that connects with the right side of his face. He stumbles backwards then comes at me again and I deliver a snap kick that hits him right in the stomach.
He doubles over and I knee him is the face, hearing a sickening crack. He goes down hard, standing back up his face is pouring blood.
I spit out more blood and he does the same then comes at me again. I tried to block him but he grabs me around my stomach and then lifts me up and slams me to the ground knocking the breath out of me.
When he goes to get back up I slam my elbow into his face. He falls back flat on his back, I get on top of him and pummel his face.
He throws me off of him then trys to get back up leaving his back exposed to me for just long enough, I jump on him putting him in a choke hold and wrapping my legs around his middle.
On his knees he slams me into the floor trying to dislodge me but I hold on with all my might. Unable to pick us both back up he resorts to slamming his elbow in my ribs.
I hear a series of pops as he keeps wailing on them. The pain in so horrendous my eyes start to water, but I still hold on.
Finally he stops flailing and goes limp, releasing him, I shove him off me and make it to my feet. Holding my ribs I take stock of my injuries. I have a few broken ribs for sure my nose is bleeding but not broken, my jaw is bruised other than that I'm ok.
Gray climbs in the ring and rushes to my side, "We need to get you to the doctor so he can make sure when Sheamus broke your ribs one didn't puncture a lung." he tells me then we head out of the ring Jack is waiting for us just outside the ring and helps Gray get me to the pack doctor.
"Well your all done, now take it easy for the rest of the day, I've bound those ribs so they will stay in place a little better so you can heel faster." Doctor Evans tells me "Now go home and rest."
"Thanks Doc." I tell him as I exit the building and start heading towards the pack house and my bed.
Gray had stayed with me until the doctor was about to bandage my ribs before he had to leave to go let his wolf run. Gray didn't always have control over his wolf, sometimes he would loose control and his wolf would tear out of him and distroy anything in his path.
His wolf was the only reason he wasn't my bata or Alpha of this pack. I had always knew Gray was a more dominant wolf than me but he tried to hide it, acting like my alpha commands had any affect on him.
I always assumed he was just afraid if he took over as alpha he would loose control of his wolf one day and hurt someone. Being my third he didn't have as much pressure and could take off when ever he needed to let his wolf out to kill things without hurting anyone.
Reaching the pack house, I head into the kitchen and get something to eat then head upstairs to my room and go to sleep.
