Chapter 7: "The Ally"
Lola's eyes narrowed as she looked at Max. She didn't know if she could trust him, but she didn't have a choice.
"What do you want from me?" she asked, trying to sound brave.
Max smiled. "I want to help you expose the truth," he said. "I've been investigating the Okoye family for months, and I have evidence that could bring them down."
Lola's eyes widened. "What kind of evidence?" she asked.
Max hesitated. "I can't reveal that yet," he said. "But trust me, it's big. And with your help, we could bring them down together."
Lola thought for a moment. She didn't know if she could trust Max, but she knew that she needed his help.
"Okay," she said finally. "I'm in. But if you're playing me, you'll regret it."
Max grinned. "I'm not playing you," he said. "I promise. Now let's get to work."
Together, they started digging deeper into the Okoye family's dealings. They spent long hours poring over documents and conducting interviews.
And then, they stumbled upon something big. A secret account, hidden away in a shell company. Lola's eyes widened as she realized the implications.
"This is it," she said to Max. "This is the proof we need."
Max nodded. "Let's get it to the authorities," he said. "We can finally bring them down."
But as they turned to leave, they were confronted by a group of men in suits.
"Ah-ah, I don't think so," one of them said, sneering at Lola and Max. "You're not going anywhere."
Lola's heart raced as she realized that they had been caught. But Max didn't flinch.
"We're not afraid of you," he said, his eyes locked on the men. "We have the truth on our side."
The men sneered, but Lola could see the fear in their eyes. They knew that they were beaten.
And with that, Lola and Max made their escape, determined to expose the Okoye family's secrets to the world.
