THE BLOODLINE OF THE MOON

903 Words
The battlefield had fallen silent. The bodies of the rogue wolves had been removed, and the injured were being treated by the healers. Yet no one dared to leave the village square. Everyone was waiting for Elder Rowan to speak. Luna stood beside Mira, her hands trembling. For twenty-one years, she had lived without knowing anything about her parents. Now, the truth was finally within reach. Elder Rowan looked at Alpha Kael before speaking. "Alpha Kael, what I'm about to reveal has been hidden for many years. I ask that it remains between us until Luna is ready." Kael gave a firm nod. "You have my word." Rowan turned to Luna, his eyes filled with regret. "Your parents were not ordinary members of the Moon Shadow Pack." Luna's heart skipped a beat. "They were among the strongest warriors this pack has ever known. Your father, Ethan Carter, was the Alpha's most trusted Beta, while your mother, Selene Carter, came from one of the oldest bloodlines in the werewolf kingdom." Luna stared at him in disbelief. "My... father was a Beta?" "Yes." "Then why was I raised as a servant?" Rowan sighed heavily. "Because the night your parents died, everything changed." The crowd remained silent as he continued. "Twenty-one years ago, rogue wolves attacked this pack without warning. But they were not here to conquer the territory." "They came for your mother." Luna frowned. "My mother?" "Selene carried a rare bloodline that had been protected for generations. It was said that one of her descendants would inherit extraordinary power." Kael exchanged a glance with Damon. "So the rogues believed that descendant was Luna." Rowan nodded. "They murdered your parents trying to find you." Luna felt the world spin around her. "They... died protecting me?" "You were only a few months old." Tears rolled down Luna's cheeks. "They gave their lives to make sure you survived." Silence filled the square. For the first time in her life, Luna understood why she had never known her parents. They hadn't abandoned her. They had sacrificed everything for her. Before anyone could speak again, a Night Fang warrior hurried into the square. "Alpha!" Kael turned immediately. "What is it?" "Our scouts have returned." "They've discovered the Rogue King's camp." Kael's expression hardened. "And?" The warrior swallowed. "The Rogue King has gathered hundreds of rogues." A heavy silence settled over the village after the scout delivered his report. No one spoke. The thought of hundreds of rogue wolves attacking the Moon Shadow Pack filled everyone with fear. Kael stepped forward, his voice calm but commanding. "From this moment, Night Fang warriors will guard every entrance to the pack. No one enters or leaves without my permission." His warriors bowed. "Yes, Alpha." Luna looked at him in surprise. "You don't have to do this," she said quietly. "They're after me. I don't want anyone getting hurt because of me." Kael turned to face her. "They're not attacking because of you." "They're attacking because of their greed." He stepped closer, his silver eyes meeting hers. "And I protect what's mine." Luna's cheeks flushed, but before she could reply, Elder Rowan cleared his throat. "There is something else you need to know." Everyone turned toward him. "When Luna was born, your mother feared the Rogue King would one day find her. To protect you, she asked the pack's most gifted witch to seal your wolf." Luna's eyes widened. "My wolf... was sealed?" Rowan nodded. "It was the only way to hide your bloodline. Without your wolf's aura, no one could sense who you truly were." Tears filled Luna's eyes. "So... I've had a wolf all this time?" "You have." "But the seal won't last forever," Rowan continued. "If you're pushed to the edge of life and death, the magic may break." Kael frowned. "Which means every battle puts her in greater danger." "Yes." At that moment, Damon entered with another scout. "Alpha, we've received another message." Kael accepted the scroll and quickly read it. His expression darkened. "The Rogue King has sent us a warning." "What does it say?" Rowan asked. Kael looked at Luna before reading aloud. > "Hand over the girl before the next full moon, and your packs will be spared. Refuse... and I will reduce every pack that protects her to ashes." Fear spread through the crowd. Some pack members lowered their heads. Others exchanged nervous glances. Luna noticed their frightened expressions and made her decision. She stepped forward. "If surrendering myself will save everyone..." "No." Kael's voice cut through the silence. He gently took Luna's hand, surprising everyone present. "You are my mate." "I will never hand you over." The warmth of his hand made Luna's heart race. For the first time since meeting him, she didn't pull away. Instead, she looked into his eyes and saw unwavering determination. At that moment, she realized Alpha Kael wasn't protecting her because of duty alone. He genuinely cared about her. Far away, deep inside a fortress hidden within the Dark Forest, the Rogue King stood before a large map of the werewolf kingdom. A wicked smile spread across his face. "Enjoy your time together, Alpha Kael," he said coldly. "Because when the next full moon rises... your mate will belong to me." The torches flickered as dark laughter echoed through the hall. The final battle for Luna Carter had begun. ... and this time, he won't leave without Luna."
