Syria’s POV I took this an opportunity. I turned and bolted for the car. The ground was soft and kept slipping under my shoes. Every step felt like I might fall. I struggled so much. My legs felt heavy, but fear pushed me forward. My chest hurt from trying to control my breathing and my heart was beating too fast it might explode. When I finally reached the car, I cursed. “You have got to be kidding me!” The car door handle wouldn’t cooperate! My fingers missed it once, twice, before I finally grabbed and yanked it open.
