Chapter 12 -Margo A Plan for Felicity

1204 Words
We stand there, in the quiet of the woods, bound by the knowledge of what must be done. Bound by the invisible thread that ties our fates together. And though he fears for us both, I know one thing for certain—we are stronger together than apart. He may want us to keep our distance from one another, but that’s not happening. I’ll be damned if that asshole alpha lays one more finger on him. And Alpha Aiden will learn that, in time. Gabriel's voice lowers, a hoarse whisper that tugs at my soul. "My sister, Felicity..." The way he says her name, it's like a prayer, a plea for something better than this cruel fate. "She's still pure light in this darkness. I need you to promise me, Margo. If nothing else—save her." A lump forms in my throat as images of the bruised women flash before my eyes. I imagine Felicity among them, a gentle spirit being crushed under Aiden's rule. My chest tightens with an ache that's both sorrow and rage. "Take her back with you," Gabriel continues, his gaze fixed on something distant, maybe a future where his sister is safe, away from Aiden's grasp. "Promise me she'll see sunlight again, feel grass beneath her feet, without fear shadowing every step." I nod, unable to trust my voice. My heart beats a fierce rhythm, echoing my silent vow. No words are needed; my determination roars louder than any mountain lion ever could. "Gabriel," I finally manage, my voice steady despite the storm within. "Have Aiden sell Felicity with the next batch of women.” I tell him and he sucks in a breath, narrowing his eyes at me. “You want me to have my sister sold into slavery?” He accuses. I step forward, once again placing my hand on his arm. “We have people in place ready to extract the next set of women sent already. We will send her with a message.” He searches my eyes for what feels like forever, and he must see the truth because he gives me a curt nod. “Will you go with her?” He asks and I shake my head. “I need to stay and gather as much information as I can. I can not leave the women here to suffer alone.” “Aiden already has the four girls lined up for this month, so we will have to wait until next month.” He says, his voice portraying confidence, but his eyes betray him, I see the worry lurking there. “Then we have a month to gather as much information as we can so Felicity can bring it to my alpha and they can attack.” His eyes go wide. “They can’t attack. Aiden will send out the weakest members of the pride first, it will be a slaughter. Him and his strongest warriors will be holed up in the council chambers.” I nod, contemplating his words. If an attack won’t work… “What about an alpha challenge?” He shakes his head. “Aiden slips poison under his claws before any alpha challenge.” A growl slips out. “That’s cheating.” Gabriel lets out a dark chuckle. “It may be cheating, but it’s the only way he ensures that he will win. And he’s never going to be able to give up his position.” I lock eyes with him, letting him see the unyielding resolve in mine. "Aiden... he won't get away with this. Not while I breathe." The forest around us seems to hold its breath, awaiting the reckoning that simmers in the space between us. Aiden's reign of terror will end. And I'll be the one to end it. My gaze hardens, reflecting the unyielding resolve that has taken root deep within my soul. Aiden’s cruelty is a festering wound on this pride, and I, Margo, am the surgeon sent to excise it. The weight of Gabriel’s words, the desperation in his eyes when he spoke of Felicity, fuel a fire in my belly that no amount of fear can extinguish. We stand on the precipice of a war, not of brute force, but of cunning and defiance against a monster who thinks himself invincible. “We need to anticipate his every move,” I state, my voice low and steady, a stark contrast to the tempest raging within. “If he poisons challengers, we find an antidote. If he hides in the council chambers, we find another way in. There’s always a weakness, Gabriel, always a crack in the armor, no matter how thick.” Gabriel’s eyes, though still shadowed with the pain of his past, hold a new spark—a flicker of the hope I am desperately trying to ignite. He nods slowly, a silent acknowledgment of the monumental task before us. “He’s cunning, Margo. He’s ruled through fear for two decades. The pride is broken.” “Then we mend it,” I counter, my hand instinctively reaching for his, a silent promise of solidarity. His fingers, rough and calloused, intertwine with mine, and the simple contact sent a surge of warmth through me, grounding me in the face of the daunting challenge. “We show them that there’s a different way to live, a way free from his tyranny. Felicity will be our first victory, a symbol of what’s possible.” I envision it clearly: Felicity, free and safe on Westwood Island, her spirit unburdened, her laughter echoing without fear. That image is my anchor, my driving force. We will use Aiden’s own cruel system against him, turning his twisted "exchange program" into a lifeline for those he sought to exploit. The message she will carry to my Alpha would be a declaration of war, a detailed blueprint of Aiden’s defenses, his poisoned claws, and his cowardly retreat to the council chambers. “A month,” Gabriel murmurs, his voice laced with grim determination. “A month to gather everything we can. Every guard rotation, every hidden passage, every secret he holds.” “Every whisper of discontent, every bruised spirit,” I add, my gaze sweeping through the silent forest as if already searching for the hidden truths. “We need allies, Gabriel. People who are tired of living in the shadows, people who remember what a true Alpha looks like.” His grip tightens on my hand. “Jasper. He’s the only one on the council who still fights, even when it’s hopeless.” “Then we give him hope,” I declare, my resolve hardening with each word. “We show him that the fight isn’t hopeless, that a new dawn is coming. Aiden may think he’s brokered a deal with the devil, but he’s about to learn that there are forces far more powerful than his petty cruelty.” The air crackles with a newfound energy, a silent vow passing between us. We are two against a tyrant, but we are also two parts of a greater whole, bound by fate, fueled by justice, and ready to face the shadows head-on. Aiden's reign of terror would end, and I will ensure it.
