They took me to the Health Center, struggling every step of the way. The Officers didn’t care—their faces were masks, emotionless against my cries. They half-dragged, half-pulled me down empty, nighttime sidewalks. Where were all the people I had spoken to earlier, who I had hoped would rally behind me and help me change things?
