Suddenly, Manuela Schmitz had vanished.
Martin Gorke was worried. He had her phone numbers, but she was not answering, he said to Kruger over the phone. He feared something had happened to her. The last time the DCS had seen her was at Max Vogel's office. He remembered asking Sonia to check her whereabouts. She couldn't reach her also. And if Sonia with her nose of a bloodhound had drawn a blank, something was up.
The Chief had sent Inspector Ziegler to investigate.
