Chapter 4

Night's POV I barged into the Unmated moon Dance even though I never got an invite, but how could I have gotten one anyway? The Unmated moon Dance only sought to notice rich and powerful packs and I certainly haven't made that list yet. “Who are they?” I heard whispers from different people, many of them questioning my arrival, but none had dared to say it to my hearing. “What do you say gentlemen, let's make ourselves comfortable,” I said, gesturing to the men beside me on both sides. I approached the session meant for Alphas only and took my seat and the whole place went into an uproar. “He must think of himself as some big shot, walking into this place like that with nothing more than his pride. Who does he even think he is?” I heard one of the she-wolves sneer. I shot her a glare for a minute, then I grinned. She shivered on impact and looked away immediately, as she shifted uncomfortably in her place. I chuckled to myself, enjoying the effect I had on her. One of the Alphas seated in that section meant for Alphas only, a tall, lean wolf with a scar above his left eyebrow, stood up from his seat, his eyes fixated on me. "Who are you?" he growled, his eyes flashing with a different shade of green before it was back to the leafy green color. I smiled, unfazed by the hostility. "I'm just here to join the celebration, Alpha. I'm also an unmated wolf," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "I didn't realize I needed an invitation to do so." The room fell silent, all eyes on me and the Alpha. I could feel the tension building, the air thick with anticipation. The Alpha's eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a snarl. "You're not welcome here," he spat. I shrugged, my grin never wavering. "I'm here now. And I'm not leaving until I've done what I came to do." I glanced around the crowd, my eyes meeting the gaze of several she-wolves, who quickly looked away, their faces turning red with excitement. "Besides, I think the ladies are enjoying my company." The Alpha's face turned red with rage, but I just laughed, enjoying the stir I was causing. “This is not the purpose of this gathering, you will both stop this madness in this very instance,” one of the elders of the alliance intervened immediately, cutting off whatever the Alpha was going to say next. I grinned when the Alpha retreated, taking his seat over again. The elder who had just spoken stared at me intently, his eyes carefully assessing me for a while before he finally spoke. “Who are you?” The elder's name, who based on a background check, was one I was familiar with — Elder Weiss. He was one of the Alliance Elders, charged with the work of making decisions until the emergence of a new leader for the Pack Alliance. “Alpha Night of the Shadow Wolf Pack,” I replied curtly, my facial expression turning somber. “I have no doubt that you certainly didn't come to watch the Dance but for something else important to you. Now what do you want?” Elder Weiss asked, his eyes furrowing slightly as he stared at me. “I want to be a part of the Pack Alliance… ”I began, but I could barely finish before I was slammed shut by the other Alphas, and soon they erupted in arguments while I looked on in silence. “He can't be a part of the Pack Alliance, his pack members are made up of rogues and exiles, how then can he join us?” one of the Alphas shouted, while others supported him. Anger seeped out from me, with a somewhat cold smile that appeared eerie. It would've been better not to smile, my eyes were set in a cold glare as I surveyed the Alphas. “Unfortunately, that's the only thing I'd want…” I said, my voice dipped in as I stood up from my seat. “If I don't become a part of the Pack Alliance, then that makes us enemies and I doubt you'd want to be on that side.” “And who are you to think you can threaten us, I will crush you with just half of my warriors,” an Alpha I distinctly remembered as the possible candidate to be chosen as the next leader of the alliance - Kaiser Claye. I stood still, my eyes scanning the possible entry and exit points, half listening as the other Alphas slammed me with their words. "You're a fool for thinking you can threaten us, Night!" one of them snarled. "Your Pack is nothing but a joke. How can you even conceive the thought of being one of us?" “He's a rogue, an Alpha rogue...” I drowned all the noises out and one word kept resounding in my ears, “Rogue.” One of my men in the room established a mind link with me soon after, “Alpha, give us the go ahead. Let us shut them up right now.” “Yeah, prepare the men and wait for my signal. Too bad they didn't exceed my expectations,” I chuckled, standing up slowly amidst the sea of Alphas talking me down and the spectators of werewolves. They had no idea what was coming. My index finger traveled slowly to my forehead when I caught sight of a beautiful young lady. She was staring at me, shivering slightly. I paused in my action, my gaze trained on her, she stared at me warily, almost scared. Just then another elder of the Alliance, Elder Harold, stood up, his voice booming across the room. "Enough!" he shouted, his eyes flashing with authority. "We will not have this kind of behavior at the Unmated moon Dance. We are here to celebrate our unity, not to tear each other apart." The gathering of people fell silent, the Alphas and spectators alike looking at Elder Harold in surprise and submission. I, too, was taken aback, my finger hovering over my forehead as I hesitated. "Let us discuss Alpha Night's request after the ceremony," Elder Harold continued. "In a civil and respectful manner." I didn't respond immediately, matching his gaze with just the same amount of intensity he gave me. Breaking into a small smile, I nodded, my eyes never leaving his as I replied to him, my voice assuming a firm tone. "Agreed." “The Unmated moon Dance is about to start, make yourselves comfortable,” Elder Harold continued, swinging his hands wildly. Opening a mindlink, I gave a few instructions to my men who had laid an ambush around the gathering waiting to unleash havoc on unsuspecting victims. “Stand down everyone, we just booked an appointment for after the ceremony. You know the plan, wait for my signal.” I had made the message very short before anyone would realize I was mindlinking anyone. When I severed the mind link, it seemed no one had even noticed it. “Permit me to take my leave now then,” I said, with a smile settling on my face, a glint of amusement evident in my eyes. Waving at my men who has accompanied me, they immediately converged and we made our way towards the exit. As I walked past the she-wolf once again, I gave her a cheeky smile and muttered, “We'll meet again soon.”
