Someone is watching

The Strange Feeling Episode 5 — Someone Is Watching Amara couldn't sleep. The silver necklace lay on the table beside her bed, reflecting the faint light from the window. She had spent the entire night thinking about her mother's words. Don't trust Victor. The memory was clearer now. Too clear to be a dream. Her mother had known something terrible was coming. And somehow, twenty years later, that secret had found its way back to Amara. She reached for the necklace. The moment her fingers touched it, her phone vibrated. Unknown number. You should have listened. Amara stared at the message. Another one appeared. Some memories are better forgotten. Her heart began racing. She immediately called Adrian. He answered almost instantly. “What's wrong?” “Another message.” “Send it to me.” She did. There was a short silence. “Don't reply.” “I wasn't planning to.” “Where are you?” “At home.” “Stay inside.” “Adrian—” “I'm serious.” His voice sounded different. Not calm. Afraid. “What's happening?” Amara asked. “I think someone is trying to scare you.” “They already succeeded.” Adrian exhaled. “I'm coming.” “You don't have to.” “I know.” “Then why are you coming?” “Because I don't want anything to happen to you.” Amara went silent. For some reason, those words affected her more than they should have. Thirty minutes later, Adrian arrived. Amara opened the door. He looked at her for a moment. “You haven't slept.” “Neither have you.” “I've been investigating.” “About Victor?” “Yes.” He entered the apartment and placed a folder on the table. “I found something.” Amara opened it. Inside were old company documents. One page had Victor Hale's name written across it. “He was in charge of the company's financial department when your mother disappeared.” Amara looked at the documents. “Did he leave the company?” “Two weeks after Elena disappeared.” “Where did he go?” “That's the problem.” Adrian pointed to a document. “He disappeared too.” Amara frowned. “Disappeared?” “Yes.” “For twenty years?” “Apparently.” She looked up. “Then how can he be threatening me?” Adrian didn't answer. That silence made Amara nervous. “You think he's alive.” “I think someone is using his name.” “Why?” “To make us believe the person behind this is Victor.” Amara looked at him. “Then who is it?” “I don't know.” Suddenly, they heard a sound outside. Both of them froze. A car door slammed. Adrian immediately moved toward the window. Amara followed. A black vehicle was parked across the street. The same type of car Adrian drove. But Adrian was standing beside her. “Who is that?” Amara whispered. “I don't know.” The car remained there for several seconds. Then it drove away. Adrian grabbed his phone. “I need to check something.” “What?” He called someone. “Did you find the vehicle?” A voice answered. Adrian listened. Then his expression darkened. “It's registered to a company.” “What company?” Amara asked. He looked at her. “Cole Enterprises.” Amara's heart dropped. “Your family?” “Yes.” She stepped away. “Then someone in your family is watching me.” Adrian didn't deny it. “That possibility has crossed my mind.” “Who?” “I don't know.” “You keep saying that.” “Because it's the truth.” Amara turned away. “I don't know whether I can trust you.” Adrian was quiet. “I understand.” She looked at him. “I don't want to be afraid anymore.” His expression softened. “Then don't face this alone.” Amara stared at him. For a moment, neither spoke. Then Adrian reached for her hand. She didn't pull away. His fingers closed gently around hers. The strange feeling returned. But this time, it wasn't frightening. It was warm. Familiar. Almost comforting. Adrian looked at her. “Do you feel it too?” Amara swallowed. “Yes.” He didn't ask what it meant. Neither of them knew. But for the first time, Amara wondered whether the strange feeling wasn't warning her about Adrian. Maybe it was warning her about everything that had happened before him. Her phone suddenly vibrated again. Both of them looked at it. One new message. He is not the person you should be afraid of. Amara's eyes widened. Another message appeared. Look inside the old house. Adrian's expression changed. “What old house?” Amara slowly looked at him. “I know exactly which one.” Her mother's childhood home. The house Amara hadn't visited since she was a little girl. The house everyone had told her never to return to. Adrian grabbed his jacket. “Then we're going.” Amara nodded. Neither of them knew that someone was already waiting for them there.
