12 Day hesitated before he called Andreas’s private number, especially this late. He was resolved to make the call, but he anticipated a gruff reception. Andreas had been in charge before when Day had involved himself in a police matter. Although it was unusual for a policeman to condone the participation of a civilian, Andreas recognised that Day had his uses and could achieve things that the police could not.
